1 April - How To Open Locked Doors

We've all no doubt imagined having to dash outside to grab something in our Pjs, only to hear the dreaded sound behind us of the door closing, locking us out. "Ahh, I'm locked out in my oldest pj's, with no keys or phone."

What to do now? Do you jump the fence to get around the back of your property, risk impaling yourself on the pickets, or rattle every window and door only to realise you have terrible break-in skills, pray someone comes home that has a key, or try the neighbour and call a locksmith, hoping they don't notice your pj's?

It's amazing when you think of it how many locks and keys we are faced with opening every day. Car locks, bike locks, houses and door locks, places of employment, lockers, security codes, computers, phones, the list goes on.

There are even keys to unlock equations in maths and science, keys to language and the written word, and keys and combinations which help us reach our health and fitness goals. Keys to happy, healthy relationships, parenting, good communication skills, etc.

The important part of all the keys in our lives is to have the wisdom to know which key opens the right door. I've found, however, that the small keys often open the big doors to our greatest possibilities and opportunities.

God will lead us to the right key to enter the right doors. Unlike the unfortunate scenario of being "locked out" of our house, when Jesus leads the way and shares His wisdom with us, we won't have to climb fences, stand freezing in the rain, or risk injury and humiliation to access keys to our future.

He says, "Come and sit and get to know me; read my words, wait, listen, and I'll show you which key opens the right door.

No stressing, no striving, just trust, rest, and doing what He says.

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (Psalm 32:8)

"This is what the LORD says, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go" (Isaiah 48:17)

"Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart, rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go." (Proverbs 3:5-6 TPT)

Next time you aren't sure which way to go or find only locked doors in front of you, don't run around in a panic. Stop, and ask Jesus what key you should use to unlock the right door.

Sometimes that can be a spiritual key like prayer, praise, giving, and forgiveness. Or it can be a very practical key, like upskilling your education, shifting jobs, changing your routine, or making better decisions regarding your health, relationships or finances. I've found that, usually, the keys are found both in the spiritual and the physical realms.

However, the key that seems to begin to open many doors is first to cast all your cares upon Jesus, cease worrying and seek after Him, and then go and do what He says. Remember, "Small keys often open the biggest doors".

Prayer: Lord, please reveal the keys to moving forward in my life. I don't want to get stuck with a whole lot of locked doors around me, so please show me what and where to go and how to access all that you have for me. In Jesus' name Amen
