10 May – Pray Instead Of Worrying

As a mum of six children and two grand-babies I know what it is to worry. Unfortunately I can be a bit of an expert at it. However over the years I have also learnt how important it is to shut down worry and to bring all I have in my heart and mind to God in prayer.

Why Pray instead of worry? Because the kingdom of heaven becomes manifest by prayer!

I know from experience that worry does nothing except make me annoying and stressful to be around. Yet when I pray I gain a peace and confidence that everything is going to be alright. It may not always look the way I first thought, but I’m continually learning that if things aren’t good or complete yet it’s because God isn’t finished working yet.

God’s destiny doesn’t unfold through worrying, or going round and around in circles over issues in our heads. God’s plans and heart is realised by our prayers and faith in what we believe and can dare to ask for. (Ephesians 3:20)

God promises repeatedly He has only good in store for our lives. That He will do exceedingly more than I can ask, think, or dream; that He has prepared amazing things in advance for me to walk in and that Jesus came to give me overflowing, abundant life. In other words God is good and He wants us to pray and believe from the perspective that He is good, (far far better than we think)  and heaven is on our side.

Today I encourage you, (especially if you are raising children), to know that God always has expansion, blessing and joy in mind when He looks at you and those you love. He longs to cover us with his love and blessings. With that in mind don’t fall into worry or running needlessly around. Seek God for his heart, plan and strategy to move forward, and invite heaven to earth as you pray that, “His will be done on earth as it is in heaven over your life.”

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything (every circumstance and situation) by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your specific requests known to God. And the peace of God (that peace which reassures your heart, that transcends all understanding, (that peace which) stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus is yours.” (Philippians 4:6-7 AMP)

He has brought me to his banqueting place, and his banner over me is love (waving overhead to protect and comfort me.)” (Song of Solomon 2:4)

Prayer: Lord thank you that you have only good on your heart for us. Please help me to trust you and to pray and to bring my concerns to you instead of worrying. Thank you that you have my life in your hands. In Jesus name Amen.
