10 Nov – Don’t Be A Passenger

Often, we can treat our life like we are just a passenger, where we allow life to happen around us rather than exercising and operating within our God-given authority, purpose and calling.

We can fail to choose and refuse wisely. It’s much like when you ride a horse. My riding instructor constantly reminds me that I can’t just sit on my horse’s back without giving definite instructions, or he will go where he chooses. Suppose my horse decides to do whatever he wants and I’m not paying attention; I could quickly end up on my butt on the ground or going places I don’t want to go. Why? Because I’ve become a passenger, or at worst a casualty, rather than riding with direction and confidence.

God also doesn’t want you to approach life and our destiny in Him like a passenger. He wants to partner with you, which means you will need to keep the vision and dreams He has placed in your heart firmly before you. It means staying connected every day to Him rather than listening and being led by any other authority or your own wisdom so that you continue to remain on the right path.

Today choose well what you will accept and refuse. Don’t waste time negotiating with anything or anyone that isn’t God’s best for you. Instead, spend time discovering what dream God has placed inside you and the assignments he has called you to fulfil. Then make sure you refuse, reject and say no to anything else.

“I have set before your life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants. (Duet 30:19)

“I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or mule, which have no understanding, they must be controlled with bit and bridle to make them come to you,” (Psalm 32:8-9)

Prayer: Lord, I don’t want to be a passenger and go through life passively. Instead, I want to fulfil all that you created me to be, and I’m asking that you help me walk in the authority and destiny I have in you. In Jesus name, amen.
