I follow some pretty amazing people on Instagram and as I scroll through my feed I’m often really encouraged by their thoughts, quotes, and encouragement. Today I watched a video of some people singing and dancing at some sort of party. One particular person in the center of the crowd seemed to be the one that all the fuss was about; the caption read: “celebrate someone like this today”.
It reminded me that God celebrates over us to the point of what some might say was excessive and that if He thinks we are worth celebrating over then maybe we should see what we do and who we are as worthy of celebrating too.
The bible says, “For the Lord, your God is living among you. He is a mighty saviour. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (Zephaniah 3:17 NLT)
The word rejoice in the original text means to spin exuberantly around. Meaning God, the creator of the Universe spins and essentially yahoos with joy over you. Why? Because He loves you that much and thinks you’re worth making a fuss of.
Today rather than brushing off who you are and the things you do as minuscule or unimportant why not take a moment to acknowledge the fact that you are worth it. You are worth dying for (because Jesus did that for you), you are worth not giving up on, and you are worth celebrating and loving in an excessive and lavish manner.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1 NIV)

Prayer: Lord thank you for your great love for me. Please help me to focus on how and what you feel and say about me rather than any of the negatives in my thoughts or how others may have treated me. Thank you that I am loved by you. In Jesus name Amen.
