Every day to a large extent you get to choose how your life is going to play out. The moves you make, every word you speak, every incline of your heart and every reflection of your thoughts, you get to choose it all.
And in amongst all that choosing God’s quiet, still voice whispers, “You can do things your way – I’ve given you free will to do that, but I do know a better way.
A way where the dreams and desires in your heart I will fulfil in a way that you couldn’t even imagine. A way where, as you walk in forgiveness you will gain the freedom and peace that you so often crave.
It’s a way where you walk away from temptation and know my grace to sustain and strengthen you as you do. It’s a way where you may be asked to remain silent even when being slammed by those around you, because I am God, and I will always have the last word. A way where you learn that I will protect, guide, provide and care for you if you will only trust and walk in my ways.”
And then He leaves you with the decision – Your way or His?
But as I often discovered when faced daily with this choice – How does my way when I choose it, work out for me anyway? Because many times when I’ve tried to do things my way I’ve found myself stressed, frustrated, disappointed, and often angry at the world and everyone in it.
If you’ve had enough of doing things your way and getting the same results, then today I encourage you to:
Choose His way… choose Jesus’ way and keep running your race with Him; not looking to the left or the right, or at anyone else except Jesus and where He’s directing.
Choose to forgive when people are hurtful because that is the better way; to deal with your issues and to remain hopeful even when discouragement pulls hard to tempt you to give in.
Choose to forget the former things, to let go of the past and to choose His will and His way over your own as you look towards the future. (You’ll find his ways and instructions on how to walk in out in the Bible)
Aim to choose Jesus every day and for Him to do whatever He wants to do in your life, because His way and His will for your life is always going to be better.
Choose to keep on learning to trust Him and to let His Kingdom come in your heart.
Today, choose life and God’s way for you. It doesn’t mean it’ll always be smooth sailing, but you will stay afloat, you will reach your destination and you will have a life that far surpasses anything you could achieve alone.
“Who is the man who fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.” (Psalm 25:12)
“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order the you may live, you and your descendants.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Have a listen to this song by Bryan and Katie Torwait – “Your will, your way” to encourage you to trust and choose His way today.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to let go and to allow you in to all the places in my heart. I want you to rule and reign in my life, so I choose your will and your way today. In Jesus name Amen.
