Recently our family moved into our new house. After unpacking and finding new places to store everything, I realised that I would have trouble reaching the top shelf where I’d stored most of my winter clothes. Primarily because I am little in size and my shelf is up high.
After weeks of getting frustrated with my shelving issue, I was out shopping and saw a step stool. I nearly walked past it but realised that this little stool with two steps was just what I needed to reach my top shelf.
That stool has made all the difference to my day. It may be a small thing to everyone else, but instead of being frustrated with not being able to keep my shelf tidy and having the ability to find my clothing every morning, I can step up and access what I both need and desire.
In life we will have seasons where we’re faced with the need to step up to new levels. We see all that God wants to give us; the promises in His word and what is possible in heavenly places, much like my top shelf with everything I need and want on it. However, then we are faced with a predicament. How do we access God’s best for us when it feels inaccessible to our everyday lives without a constant struggle?
As I looked at my stool, positioned ready for me to reach up into my cupboard, I realised that Jesus is the one who enables us to step up, and in Him, we have all we need for life and godliness. He is the answer to the dilemma of not reaching or becoming the person we desire to be. We may be able to achieve some success alone, but it’ll always be a struggle. But with Jesus, we can step up to new levels. We see what is possible, hear His plans and promises, and then if we follow Him, we can stand upon His shoulders as He lifts us to reach heights and imparts his power and ability to be the person we could never be on our own.
“For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His glory and excellence.” ( 2 Peter 1:3 AMP)
Today take time to see what God says about your life and what is possible in Him. Choose to take the step up to new levels to achieve your dreams and access your best possible life. You’ll need Jesus, but that’s okay; He has broad shoulders.
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
Prayer: Lord, thank you that you lift me up and enable me to reach new heights. Would you please help me step up today so that I can walk in all you have for me? In Jesus name Amen.
