16th August – Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing!

Today I am feeling thankful. Why? Well because I am no longer wondering, or should I say worrying about a little but it seems significant thing.

It all start about two months ago when I felt a niggle in one of my teeth, which I promptly ignored. ( see blog post 31 May- “A not so little niggle”). After a visit to my dentist, a temporary filling and the news of a possible need for a root canal, as the nerve in my tooth was most likely dying, I went home.

Now I pray about most things and believe God can and will fix, restore and create anything when we come to Him and ask, putting our faith to work. I’ve even seen Him first hand restore teeth when our eldest son at age two damaged his front tooth. The nerve was dying and his tooth turned black. Not wanting him to lose his tooth, and have a gap for the next 4-5 years we prayed, and told those tooth nerves to come back to life. Within a matter of hours that black tooth turned white again and was completely restored.

I was thinking about this tooth story as I contemplated my own sorry tooth dilemma; and so I started to pray…. and my tooth started to go grey! So I kept praying and it started to hurt. Contemplating root canals, needles, and more expense I prayed, spoke over that tooth, and prayed some more. Feeling I needed reinforcements I asked my husband to pray. This went on for weeks, and then my tooth started to change colour – back to white, as the nerves restored and the pain disappated.

Now you would think I would stop wondering, or worrying about that tooth. But you see when you can’t see with your natural eyes you have to stay in faith, and keep believing. You have to stand on what Gods word says and trust, and that, if you let fear in can be difficult. Fear is a sneaky thing and it works away at our faith if we aren’t careful. It was busy working away at mine about my restored tooth, so much so that I was clenching my teeth while I slept, and ended up sore all over again.  So yesterday I decided with some strong encouragement from my ever patient husband to visit the dentist. A few xrays and investigations later, and I’m feeling relieved and suitably dsciplined to not “believe in what I can see, but in what God says” and what I’ve prayed!

Its easy to get into fear and doubt, and its so important to deal with those fears quickly before they un- do all our “believing”. My tooth is fine, the nerve is happy, the dentist is happy, and I am very happy. I’ve been reminded that, “Seeing is not believing, believing is seeing, and speaking those things that are not as though they are.” (Romans 4:17). Because if we are going to live in the supernatural everyday thats how we have to be.

Today whatever you are facing know that God is able, He is willing,  and He does answer our prayers. Don’t go by what you can see with your natural senses. Believe and “see” with eyes of faith, and on account of what God’s Word says, “for He is alert and active watching over His word to perform it.” (Jeremiah 1:12)

Jesus said, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:24)

Keep praying, keep God’s Word before you; in your heart and your mouth, get others to pray too and remember, “Seeing isn’t believing.  Believing is seeing!”
