17 June -“Trust Me, Trust Me, Trust Me!”

There is a passage in the bible which sums up the simplicity of what it is to be in relationship with God. It is:

“Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper” (Psalm 37:3)

God doesn’t want us to worry about things. All we need know is we are to trust and spend time with Him. As we do the fruit of our trust and time with Him is He will reveal and direct us where to do good. If you don’t think that will make a difference to your life, try it. Trust God to lead and direct you. Do good and bless your family, your partner, your work colleagues, the people you meet each day. I guarantee it will make a difference to them, and do something wonderful in you!.

Constantly through the bible we find the words “Trust Me”. In the New Testament the word used for trust is faith. Have “faith in God ” which really means “Put your trust in God”.

How often don’t we trust God though? We might think we are, but are we actually trusting in other people and things when it really comes down to it? We can trust others more than we trust God,  we can trust and rely on our own ability, we can easily put our trust in money, and our ability to accumulate it. We can put trust in our jobs for our security.

1 Timothy 6:17 says, Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment”.

God wants us to trust Him so we are not focused on taking care of our needs and wants, but focused on looking for ways to do good and focus on the things of heaven. When we put our trust in other sources, it takes up a lot of our energy and time. We perhaps even get stolen from in our joy, peace and capacity to love others. Why do we do that when God emphatically states “Trust me, Trust Me, Trust Me. I’ve got this. I’ve got YOU!” (Psalm 37)

If that isn’t enough God promises that He will also richly give us all we need for our enjoyment! How great is that?

All God asks is that we put our trust in Him, and look for ways and places to do good. To bless others. Then He promises that He will give us all we need for our enjoyment. Notice it doesn’t say “God will give us just enough to get by, or even just what we need.”. “No it says “He will give us richly all we need for our enjoyment!”

My Mum is presently travelling in the UK and predominantly Wales. She is an avid traveller and let’s God lead her where to visit. This trip she wasn’t sure where or why she was heading to Wales, she’s already been there numerous times. However the Lord was persistent and so she set off.

I have to say I have not heard my Mum so delighted with the places or people she is meeting for a long time. She has been living out the “God will richly give us all we need for our enjoyment”. Even when she didn’t fully understand what she herself needed, or would even get joy out of, God did. He’s set up people for her to meet, places to visit and stay, truly stunning accommodation and scenery, and great food cooked for her wherever she goes.

All she purposed in her heart is that she would trust and put her faith in God, and continue to do good wherever she went. She has been sharing her God stories and blessing people along the way, and in turn she has been given richly to everywhere she goes, for no other reason than for her enjoyment. That’s God for you!

Today if you are thinking “What should I do, what is my purpose? Don’t complicate it, it’s very simple. Trust in God, listen to His leading, and make it your purpose to do good wherever you are or go. Then you will not only live in safety and prosper, but God will richly give you all you need for your enjoyment.

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.         They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8)

“Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.                                 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires” (Psalm 37:3-4)

Prayer: Lord it’s so simple, help me not to complicate it, but just to trust you with all my life, and to do good wherever I go. In Jesus Name Amen.
