18 April - Look To The Son

I spent the day traveling to Tamworth today to attend a music festival where our daughter Shara Rose is performing. On the way we stopped over at the sunflower fields, where we walked through acres and acres of sunflowers.

Sunflowers on mass are quite stunning, and today their golden yellow flowers filled the horizon, and I couldn't help but smile at their cheerfulness.

The thing about sunflowers is that as the sun sets, you start to notice that the sunflowers look like they are all bowing their heads as the sun goes down and there is no longer bright sunshine shining on the face of the sunflowers.

It reminded me that just as a sunflower responds to the sunshine by lifting its petals to the sun's rays, Jesus wants us to lift our faces and look to him for what we need too. He is the light of the world, and it's in his gaze and presence that we find the most peace and joy. However, if we turn our heads and hearts away darkness can envelop us and we can find ourselves wandering in the darkness.

We, like the sunflowers, are made to look at and be surrounded by the Son, (Jesus )to be at our most brilliant.

Today I encourage you to look to the Son and determine to keep your eyes firmly fixed on Him. Jesus has all you need, and you will find peace, purpose, and a light to guide you on your journey in Him.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:3 NLT)

Prayer: Lord, thank you that you are the light in the darkness and that in you I have all I need for life. I'm turning my face and fixing my gaze on you today and ask that you fill every part of my life today. In Jesus name Amen
