One of our daughters reminds me of a sparkly star. God’s made her that way, and when she is walking in who she is made to be, she especially lights up a room and encourages and lifts people just by her presence.
She sparkles because no matter what she is going through, when she looks at the ultimate light source Jesus, she can’t help but shine. It because what we behold, we reflect, which makes me ask the question, “What are you beholding because that is what you will reflect and impart to everyone around you?”
Jesus wants to help us and says for us to come up and look at Him, at His goodness, love and light so that we reflect and radiate those things. The darkness cannot extinguish His light, but we need to be mindful of what we are looking and thinking upon?
The bible encourages us to think upon those things that are pure, good, lovely and worth giving a shout about. (Philippians 4:8)
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfil his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.” (Philippians 13-15 NLT)
However, far too often, we can look at the darkness or things that distract and dim the light in us instead of at Jesus, the ultimate light source. We get caught looking at darkness and the things that the devil is saying and doing, which draws us down, often diminishing our awareness of Jesus, who we are in Him and His goodness.
To help us, God has given us His Word and the ability to come into His presence as a great source of light that illuminates our path and helps us to know what to look at and think upon. “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path,” (Psalm 119;105; Jeremiah 33:3; Hebrews 10:22)
When you live in that realm of looking upon and being around His light, you’re lifted above the darkness and able to shine far more brightly. You will hear from heaven, receive all the revelation and insights you need, gain strength and pray prayers that are powerful and effective.
Today I encourage you to keep looking at Jesus who, “became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory. (John 1:14)
No darkness can dispel His light, and as you look at Him, you’ll reflect His love and goodness becoming a light (or sparkly star) to the world, just as Jesus said you are.
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (John 5:14-16)
Prayer: Lord, help me not to get distracted or dragged down by any of the darkness of the world, but to look to you and your light, which lifts me up so that I reflect your goodness and hope to all those around me. In Jesus Name Amen
