18 Sept – When People Are Being Plain Awful

awful people

I’m going to call it as it is today….sometimes people can be plain awful. There is just no other word to explain the behaviour and conduct of others except that they are being awful.

Today I was told we weren’t enough of something…however it’s not the first time I’ve had the not enough. Actually I’ve been told some interesting things over the years, like that my husband and I are too happy. Or that I make others feel too old because I look young, or that I’m too that or not enough of something else.

The long and short of it is that when you are focusing on being and doing what God has created you for there are those who will struggle with you being you. Some may even attempt to try and take you down, to speak against you and to allow jealousy to dictate their actions. But the best way to overcome and overlook others opinions and yes awfulness, is to look to Jesus, remind yourself that He is with you and to determine to win and to just keep winning and being spectacular.

We win against our past, our hurts, other’s people’s smallness and any attacks on us as a person when we just keep seeking to love God and to be the best person we can be; to excel, explore, to push against any limitations and to face and overcome every fear.

Understand that people are people and everyone has their issues. Our battle isn’t against people – against flesh and blood, but against the devil who actively seeks to use whatever means, including other people’s weaknesses to undermine God’s plan for our lives.  (Ephesians 6:12) Don’t allow his tactics to undermine you or to cause you to modify or lessen who you are as a person. Don’t allow anything or anyone to make you doubt God’s plan for your life. You have a destiny and God says you are loved, accepted, an overcomer, a winner and able to do all things through Jesus who gives you strength. (Philippians 4:13)

Today flick off any comments or awful behaviour that you have been at the receiving end of and, “Let’s not get tired of doing what is good for at just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” (Galatians 6:9 NIV)

“Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV)

Prayer: Lord I forgive those who have been plain awful today and I ask that you would fill me with your grace, love and strength. Thank you that I can do all things because you give me strength and hold my future in your hands. I trust you to lead me into all that you have planned for me today. In Jesus name Amen
