19 August - Using The Power Of Your Words To Create The Life You Want

It’s out of the heart that our mouth speaks so a key to having great words and subsequently a happier life, is to have great things stored in our hearts. It means learning to be someone who forgives quickly, keeps from being offended and who fills their heart with those things that are good, true, praiseworthy, and worth thinking about.


Jesus gave some wise words on how to be a person with great words, and advised us to be mindful of what we put into our life; what we look at and listen to and hold in our hearts, for what we put in will come out in the way we speak and behave. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of”. (Luke 6:45) If we want our speech to be “mountain moving” like it has the potential to do; that causes angels to act when we speak, to effect change, to be gracious and full of praise, encouragement and inspiration, then God teaches us to fill our hearts and minds with what is positive and loving, which essentially flushes out any negatives or words and attitudes which are harmful to both our life and to those listening to us.


The bible says to give our attention to, “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things”. (Philippians 4:8)


We are made in Gods image and it was by His spoken word that the universe was created, and it is also therefore by our words that we have the power to create. Our words are like containers of either fear and bitterness or faith, hope and love. The question is what are we pouring out of those containers onto our hearers? Today I encourage you consider the condition of your heart, and to do a word inventory on your speech. Surround yourself with those things that bless your heart and with people who are wise with their words so that you can begin to create the life you want.


Choose to daily listen to and to read faith filled, positive words and to those things that affect your heart quickly. Ask God’s forgiveness and healing from the effects of any reckless harsh words you have spoken or have had spoken over you, and make a decision to be a person who speaks wisdom and healing wherever you go.

“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! (Psalm 141:3) “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer”. (Psalm 19:14) Prayer: Please remind me to guard my heart, for out of my heart my mouth speaks, so that my speech will be full of life giving words today. And “let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord.”(Psalm 19:14)
