In furniture restoration once you have sanded all surfaces and have gotten down to the bare wood, it’s a good time to do any woodworking repairs or replace any parts.
Some joints, such as table legs are more likely to get more wobbly than others.
That’s when the glue comes out and is applied to all the joints, and clamps are applied to hold everything together.
When God the master craftsmen restores us we may feel like we are a bit wobbly too, like our legs are going to fall off and we need God to get out the glue and hold us together.
You may have the feeling of being exposed and vulnerable as the Lord moves in your heart, but that’s where and when God can start repairing.
Stay put and let God repair you. Don’t try to grab a paint brush and cover up again, or decide you can sort it by yourself because it seems too hard to do it God’s way.
Wait on The Holy Spirit
“But the Comforter (Counsellor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener,), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall everything I have told you.” (John 14:26)
The Holy Spirit is our Helper. When we open up our lives we allow God’s very presence, the Holy Spirit to fill and empower us. He comes to help, and to strengthen us.
Let the Holy Spirit apply His healing ointment and don’t run from His presence.
He’ll speak to you and show you where you need healing and restoring. Receive what the Lord says. Do what He says. Come to Him. Forgive, and bring anything to God that you sense is not right in your life.
God doesn’t condemn us, but He will bring conviction of the things that are keeping us from being all we can be in Him.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord”,
“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1)
God is always calling us to follow Him, and His ways are not man’s ways. It is always our choice whether we choose to follow Him. It is our choice whether we open up our lives and invite Him in. Too often I think we slam the door in His face when He knocks on the door of our hearts because we think we know better. When what God offers each one of us is real freedom and peace.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8)
Choose today to live free, whole and completely restored. Stay still and let God repair those things that have become broken, lost or stolen in you. He is the great restorer!
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way”. (Psalm 139:3)
Prayer: Lord I thank you for your presence which gives me hope and strength. Help me to be sensitive to your Holy Spirit, and your leading even when I may feel vulnerable or raw and exposed. Please restore me. In Jesus Name Amen.
