Last night I saw something. It was a wind and it was blowing through people’s houses. It blew through front doors, down hallways, into lounge rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and offices. This wind blew in a swirly whirly motion lifting things off the ground, scattering papers, dust and debris as it swirled into the corners of rooms and spaces. In actual fact this wind was making quite a mess as it made it’s way from house to house. But as it blew it did something. It may have been making what looked to be a mess, but it was also blowing a life giving refreshing like a “mighty, power filled breath of fresh air.”
I asked God what this wind was and I felt Him reply, “I’m the wind, and I’m going to blow through people’s lives just like you saw the wind blow through people’s houses. I’m the wind and it’s the wind of my Spirit that is bringing life and refreshing where there has been only stale, still lifelessness. When and where I blow the winds of my Spirit it may look like there is “mess”, like the piles of paper and dust flying about everywhere, but that’s okay and needs to happen, because some things need to be shifted, and even unsettled to bring much needed life to people.”
I want to encourage you to invite the Spirit of God to blow through your life. Open the front door, and then every other door of your world and let Him in to do as He wills. That may unsettle you and it will probably even look like He is making a mess, but that’s okay, because some thing’s in our life need to be lifted up, to be exposed, to be shaken and dusted off and sorted out again. When we invite and allow God’s Spirit to blow through our lives things will change, and they will change for the better because He only brings that which is good. His winds brings life where there has only been death, hope where there was despair, and strength and purpose where there was none.
The bible talks about the wind of God’s Spirit and what He will do when He comes in this way. He is the wind and when He blows it is to effect change, to bring life, and to release His power. Ezekiel saw the wind and God said to him, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy son of man, and say to the breath, “Thus says the Lord God, Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life.” So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet an exceedingly great army.” (Ezekiel 37:9-13)
Today open up the doors and let the wind of His Spirit blow where it may, that He may bring life and refreshing to you, and to this land.
“And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” (Acts 2:2)
Prayer: Lord would you please come and blow through my life, through my home, through “my stuff”; through everything. Shift what you need to shift, and blow as a mighty rushing wind full of your power, effective to bring life and change to not just me, but to this whole land. In Jesus name Amen.
