2 May - Worth Searching The World For

It's a big job moving house with seven people living together, and one thing we have somehow managed to lose is the T.V remote, and no number of unpacking boxes has managed to locate it.

Losing our remote reminds me of a story Jesus once told of a woman with a lost coin who desperately tried to find it by lighting every lamp and sweeping the whole house looking for it. On finding it, she called all her neighbours over and said, "rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin." The lost coin was significant because women usually received ten coins as a wedding present, and each piece held sentimental and monetary value. Hence, the loss of even one coin was very upsetting.

Jesus told this story because he wanted us to know that God sees and values every person, and regardless of how many other people there are in the world, we each have great importance to Him.

You may feel insignificant or not noteworthy, but God does not ever view us this way. He feels great sadness when we are apart from him, lose our way, or are hurting. Just as the woman searched the whole house until she found her lost coin and then threw a party to celebrate that which was once lost and now was found, God continually reaches out and seeks to connect with us every day. When we do, He rejoices with the angels because even though there are many people in the world, He will drop everything to come to look for, rescue, and restore us safely to Him. He values us so much he will do anything to reach us.

Today, if you wonder if God cares and is interested in your life or you feel unworthy, be encouraged. You are very precious to God and worth searching the world for.

Through Jesus, He has done everything to rescue and enable you to be restored and made whole; and all of heaven is cheering you on today.

"Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn't she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbours together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.' In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." (Luke 15:8)

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

Prayer: Lord, thank you that I matter so much to you. Please help me remember how important and precious I am and that you see and care for me regardless of what is going on. Thank you that I am no longer lost because you found me. In Jesus name Amen.
