21 April – Leah; no accident!

Processed with VSCO with preset

Our youngest son Isaac has a very special friend named Leah. Anyone who knows much about Isaac knows Leah is the pony he rides and who holds a very special place in his heart. Isaac loves her!

The thing about Leah is that she was an “accident” and wasn’t really meant to happen according to her owner and Isaac’s riding coach. A stallion jumped the fence and got into the mares paddock and hey presto we have Leah.

In the horse world Leah is far from perfect or even “put together” right in the eyes of the judges and those who frequent horse shows. Yet Leah in Isaac’s eyes is perfect and in the list he is currently making of the top  100 things he is thankful for, Leah is in the top 5. Interestingly Isaac is not alone in his love of Leah, as anyone who rides her believes she is special. She’s gentle with just enough sass to teach everyone how to handle themselves around a horse, yet she always seems to look after anyone who has the privilege of riding her.

Pretty great for an “accident” who was never planned and simply a result of some stallion doing the “wrong thing” according to the world’s way of looking at things.

The thing is God actually knows what He is doing, and one look at Isaac and Leah together lets you know that He knew exactly what He was doing when it came to Leah. Perhaps because “accidents’ and the mistakes of others or even our own choices in God’s hands become not messes but miracles instead.

Today I want to encourage you that regardless of whether you feel like your life is one big accident or mess up, you are in fact, just like Leah, and someone’s potential miracle and an absolute gift to the world if you’d only start to see yourself like God sees you.

God always has a plan and nothing in His hands is ever wasted, and no one to Him is an accident. It’s just that He needs to be able to have access to every area of our life to bring out the best in us, and to turn any mess into a miracle  – which today is exactly what He has been working on and planning for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”(Jeremiah 29:11)

“You were born for such a time as this”.(Esther 4:14)

“I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvellously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skilfully shaping me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be before I became me. Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book. Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought!” (Psalm 139:14-18 TPT)

Prayer: Lord please help me to see my life through your eyes and that instead of being a mess or accident I am actually a gift to the world and someone who you have a plan and a purpose for. Help me to really see myself the way you see me today. In Jesus name Amen.
