21 Oct -Finding God!

finding-god

One of the things I have learnt about God is that He sees all. He sees the beginning from the end, and every thing in between. So when He says something to us it’s probably a good idea to listen.

One of the main ways He speaks to us is through His word found in the bible. We can have a confidence in what we read and study in it as we read because it is unique among so-called “holy” books in that it does not merely give moral teaching and say, “Trust me.” Rather, we have the ability to test it by checking the hundreds of detailed prophecies that it makes, by checking the historical accounts it records, and by checking the scientific facts it relates. It’s not just a collection of stories or fables, but the consistent record of God speaking to mankind.

Not only that but you will literally find God in His word. We find out what He is like, and how much He loves us. We find out how He operates and how faith works.

There have been times in my life where I didn’t know what to do, or really needed some encouragement and assurance that everything was going to be alright. I can still remember specific passages of scripture God has literally led me to which helped me at those times. I discovered and found God in His Word, and now I know Him for who He is in those areas of my life. I think perhaps we don’t know God as our healer unless we need healing; as our provider, unless we need provision; as our strength, unless we feel weak etc.

When I’ve needed those things I have turned to God, sought out what He has to say, and in the process I have discovered  Him and that He meets our every need.

Take the time to read and discover God for yourself. It is often when we are hard pressed and don’t know quite what to do, that we actually discover God the deepest. God is waiting. He can be found in His word. It’s not, as some imagine a boring book, but instead a place of discovery, answers, guidance, and where God will actually speak to you if you have a heart to listen. He wants you to know Him. Won’t you seek Him in His Word today?

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart”. (Jeremiah 29:13)

Prayer: Lord thank you for your word. Help me to understand and find more of whom you are, and the answers and wisdom I need as I read it. In Jesus Name Amen.
