22 October - God's Got Something New

It constantly amazes me how we are far more capable than we often think and that when we put our hearts and minds into something, we find ourselves breaking through into new areas of our life.

I think that’s because we are designed to grow and take on new challenges, dream and have goals and a vision for where we are going and who we are becoming.

What we do daily affects our hearts, minds, attitudes, and spirits and doing new and challenging things helps us make new pathways in our brains and expands our hearts and thinking. It also opens us up to new possibilities for God to move in our lives.

Isaiah 35 in the Bible always encourages me. It is a proclamation of new life from God to strengthen us where we may feel weak or fearful and to declare bigger, better days.

Isaiah talks about a desert, symbolizing areas in our world that have become barren and a wasteland. Yet God gives us a promise and says that the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose, like rivers in the desert will He pour out His spirit on those who are thirsty and bring abundance.

The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, even with joy and singing… Strengthen the weak hands And make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! (Isaiah 35:1-7)

It’s good also to remember that before God does anything, He always speaks through people listening out for what He is saying and revealing. All through the bible and history, you see this happening. God speaks; people hear and then declare it. Then it happens.

Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants, the prophets”. (Amos 3:7 NKJV)

But it’s up to us when we sense God revealing the new, whether we hold onto those NEW things and run with them or whether we push them aside.

We get to choose to “water” those seeds of hope and life with prayer, God’s word and belief or to kill them off with negativity, fear and neglect.

I want to encourage you today to allow God to bring new beginnings into your life. Spend time with Him, and He will show you what’s on his heart and how he desires to bring life and restoration to the desert places and release his favour in your life.

How does He do that? By showering us in His presence, softening the barren and damaged places and planting seeds of hope, healing and vision into our life.

Seek Him, and you will find Him. Listen, and you will hear Him; have a humble heart that wants to know and love Him, and you will sense and feel the winds of change blowing and opportunities being released from heaven. He is the God of new beginnings and wants to share and release them over you today. “Behold I will do a new thing, now it springs forth; shall you not know it.” (Isaiah 43:19)

“The wind blows where it wishes. You hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8-9)

Prayer: Lord, please begin something new in me today. I don’t want to miss what you are releasing from heaven, so make me ready and openhearted to you. Thank you for the new things and your favour being poured out in my life today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
