Last week I was at the hairdresser's, and as I watched those around me being served in the salon, I started thinking of all the people who help others feel good about themselves and how important they are to our communities.
It's the personal trainers, coaches, instructors, barbers, hairdressers, beauticians, and nail technicians that can make such a big difference, and it's those people and the roles they play that can also be overlooked and underestimated in their importance to us.
It was a good reminder that it's not just the big flashy roles that people have that makes a difference. It is also all the little thoughtful things we do for one another, the simple acts of kindness, using our gifts and talents, and choosing to look for ways to serve and help others be the best version of themselves that matters too.
Perhaps one of the easiest ways to help change the world is taking what we have and seeking to bless others with what we can be and do right now.
Don't underestimate what you carry and its importance. Instead, value who you are, all the little things you do (and others do for you), what you are skilled and gifted in and have to offer the world and go out and change someone's world today.
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)
"Do small things with great love" - Mother Teresa
Prayer: Lord, thank you that you have given each person the ability to make a difference in the world. Please help me value who I am and what I carry and see how I can then bless someone else today. In Jesus name Amen.
