24 July -The giver, not the getter!

I woke up this morning and felt the Lord speak to me. I was looking at a busy day, and was going through everything I needed to get organised before I got out of bed. But in the midst of my organising I felt the Lord say, “I don’t want to get from you, I want to give to you. “Let’s have some fun today

In the system that this world operates in, the concept of someone wanting to give to you is somewhat foreign. Most people, organisations and institutions want something from you, with little in return. As the saying goes “everyone wants their pound of flesh”. Jesus however is not really interested in taking “our pound of flesh”, mainly because He literally already gave His own when He died on the cross.

Quite simply Jesus only wants to give to us. And the only things He wants to get from us are: our shame, burdens, sicknesses, poverty, brokenness, hopelessness, fear, and every other weight that the world, and the devil has tried to put on us.

Today, that’s what I call good news. There is no toil or hardship, no guilting us into anything, or pressuring us. Jesus just wants to give to us, not the other way around.

He wants to love upon us, to deliver us, to heal us, to provide for us, to pour out His presence and peace and joy on us. He wants to heal our minds, our bodies, our emotions, and our spirit’s. He wants to give beauty for ashes. (Isaiah 61:1-3)

All He says is “Come to me”.

Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me;  for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28)

I encourage you to let Jesus give to you today. All you have to do is come to Him. To say “Here I am Jesus”. He’ll do the rest.

Have a listen to this song as you do:

Prayer: Jesus, I thank you that you just want to give to me; to love me and to release joy and peace in my life. I come to you today Jesus. In Jesus Name Amen.
