It’s just about midnight on Christmas day as I write this, and our family is playing Black Jack, and now and then, I can hear someone call out. "I’m all in", meaning they are committed to the hand they’ve been dealt and expecting they could win by committing to holding on the hand they have been dealt.
However, as I thought about being All In, I realised that most of us hesitate to be all in, in the other areas of our life, but that I am celebrating Christmas today because God is all in when it comes to us. He sent Jesus, and He isn’t half-hearted about how He feels about us or his purpose being fulfilled in and through our lives. He is devoted to us living the life we were created for, and he put his all on the line when he chose to give his life in our place when he died on the Cross.
Therefore, the question isn’t whether Jesus is all in for us but rather, are we all in for Jesus? When he directs or tries to lead us, do we respond with a Yes, or do we back off or negotiate a way around not having to be all in on our commitment and decisions regarding Him?
There is a verse in the bible that says that the willing and obedient will inherit the best of the land, meaning when we are all in, in our decisions to follow Jesus and his way of doing things, we will receive the best way forward for our life, have fewer regrets and know that we have given it our all. All in for Jesus also means we can know His had upon our life, leading and guiding us in the way to go. (Isaiah 1:19)
Today I encourage you to be “all in” regarding your relationship and commitment to Jesus. Be wholehearted in your decisions and choices and aim to make them good ones that align with His best for your life. He has great plans for your life and promises he will lead and guide you, but he wants you to be wholehearted about your decisions so that you can live “All In” with no regrets.
“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16:3)
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Duet 6:5)
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being all in and committed to me. Please help me to live all in for you and in the choices I make. I want to live wholeheartedly, and I ask that you help me to do that starting today. In Jesus name Amen.
