26 Dec - Enjoy Your Life

We can easily get stuck in the grind, busyness, or believe that we have to be doing something productive and meaningful all the time that we forget that God wants us to enjoy life too.

Yes, we have a purpose and are to look to make a positive impact in the lives of others, which will require discipline and persistence to fulfil, but God still desires we have fun amid all our doings.

It glorifies God when we live our life in full technicolour, enjoying the day, our surroundings, taking holidays, surrounding ourselves with beauty, having hobbies, great relationships, and being able to enjoy our downtime. To essentially know what and who prospers our soul so that we can live life to the fullest. It's what recharges us to keep running our race well. (John 10:10)

I think if we stopped and asked God what he'd like us to do with the day, we might be surprised with what he'd say because it wouldn't be all serious, "spiritual", or even look like it was producing anything.

The simple fact is regardless of where or who we are, God desires to fill our lives with good things. Even though that will mean different things for different people, it's still one of God's promises, and in his character, He seeks to satisfy our lives and crown us with His loving kindness and mercy.

The years go by really, really fast, and God wants them to be lavishly filled with good things, people and experiences if we allow Him to lead us. We can and probably will be able to get to our destination and complete our purpose with few breaks and limited fun, or we can travel through life in peace, joy, fulfilment, laughter, music, colour, God's presence, and having a great time.

Today look for God and what he is doing. Include him in your day and decisions, and seek His wisdom and advice on the best way to live because, as you do, he promises to show you how to live freely, lightly, and to keep your joy.

"Come to me. Get away with me, and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me, and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." (Matt 11:28-30)

He (God), "Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you [lavishly] with lovingkindness and tender mercy; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle." (Psalm 103:4-5)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for fullness of life in you and that you show me how to live freely and lightly today. In Jesus name Amen
