There are many ways we can know love, but I think the greatest love we can know is the love of God, and that He is real, and interested in having a relationship with us.
This loving relationship is not just intellectual, but also to be experienced. God wants to show Himself strong, and to demonstrate His love for us. That’s what Jesus did while He walked the earth. He demonstrated love in practical workings of power, miracles, healing, and showing up when needed.
It’s the same way He wants us to know Him today. He wants to show Himself strong in our lives, and for us to then help others to know Him too.
How great it would be if we all loved people by our words and actions, causing our lights to shine. And that we also took every opportunity to demonstrate through workings of power that God is not far off or aloof, but right here with us. When we are talking about Jesus to people, we are able to open up heaven over their lives. This enables them to experience for themselves His very real presence, power and hand upon their lives.
When Jesus showed up on the scene people were astounded. People were amazed at His love and compassion and that He cared more about people than religion, protocol or what the who’s who thought. When He healed the blind, the deaf, the paralysed, the epileptic, the outcast and the forgotten “He amazed everyone and they praised God saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” (Mark 2:12)
Isn’t it about time that people once again said, “we have never seen anything like this,” because we are following in the footsteps of Jesus and copying His example. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” (John 14:12)
The bible says, “The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power”. (1 Corinthians 4:20)
Perhaps there has been far too much talking and not enough action and demonstrations of God’s love, compassion and power. How often have we talked ourselves out of praying for someone, instead reasoning someone else can do it rather than us?
Paul in the bible wrote, “When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I decided to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith would not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)
We don’t have to be perfect, a preacher, or a spiritual giant; we simply have to make ourselves an available vessel for God to use!
Today take some time to seek Jesus and His presence. If we wait and spend time with Him, He will reveal the workings and ways of His kingdom to us, and then empower us to share His love through our words, actions and with demonstrations of His power.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)
Jesus said, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Prayer: Lord help me to not get so distracted by life that I don’t take the time to rest in your presence. Please give me boldness to reach out in love and compassion to all those who need to know that you are both loving and powerful. In Jesus Name Amen.
