4 Dec – Have you anything to declare?

declare

This week while spending time with the Lord I was taken in the spirit into the courts of heaven and heard the Lord say “You must declare and decree my word, my will over the earth, the whole earth.”

The word declare in the bible comes from the Hebrew word “achvah”, meaning essentially “to make known”.

To us spiritually, declarations are what we speak to make known what we already have possession of. We declare our inheritance, and what Jesus has done for us at the cross. We can declare our right standing and friendship with God, our salvation, our deliverance from evil, our healing, our provision, our victory, and blessing and our future hope.

In contrast the definition of decree is “a statement of truth that carries the authority of a court order”. When we decree in the spiritual realm it causes the truths of the heavenly realm to be manifest into the natural realms so that they become our daily reality.” (Elizabeth Nixon)

We decree healing when facing sickness. We decree provision and abundant blessing when we are lacking. We decree peace when there is strife. Jesus taught us how to degree when he taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. When we decree we are stating the will and purposes of God on earth, so that His will, revealed in His word is established on earth. Decrees essentially bring heaven to earth.

That’s why it is so important to know what the bible says, for it is God’s will and testament to us, and when we decree scripture it releases God’s purposes into our lives. But how can we declare and decree something we do not know, or state the truth when we are ignorant of it? That’s why we must feed ourselves with what God says in His word, and be speaking that, rather than filling our lives with the latest news report, outbreak of disease or bad news story. We may be faced with facts that don’t match up with what God says about our life; sickness, lack, relationship problems, strife in our family, work, or school etc. But they are facts, and facts have to give way to the truth. The truth is God’s word and what He has decreed, for in Christ we are no longer bound by the facts of this world.

If you abide in me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.” (John 15:7)

In Hebrew, decree means “to divide, separate and destroy.” This definition reveals what happens in the spiritual realm when we decree. When we decree, God’s provision and blessings over our lives, then anything purposed against our provision and blessing has to make way for the truth. When we decree God’s peace and unity in our family, then anything purposed against peace and unity has no valid objection or standing to come against us. When we decree, “my home overflows with wealth”, we establish the blessing in our homes and destroy the curse and spirit of lack and poverty. When we decree peace, we destroy and separate ourselves from fear and worry. When we decree my children are peaceful and blessed, we separate them from anxiety, strife and stress. (see Psalm 112:3; Proverbs 10:22; Psalm 103:1-5; 1 Peter 2:24)

The devil is a defeated enemy and a thief and a liar. (John 10:10) He has had a sentence imposed against Him. God decreed it. What Jesus did in conquering sin and death settled once and for all God’s will. The bible says Jesus made a public spectacle of our enemy.

“Having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross! And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. (Colossians 2:5)

The German diktat is the equivalent of our decree and means “a harsh judgment imposed on a defeated enemy that cannot be opposed” I like that!

We have overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;” (Revelation 12:11)

When we decree we:

  1. Speak God’s blessings upon our lives

  2. Institute the very will and purposes of God

  3. Separate and destroy the plans of the enemy

  4. Impose a judgment the enemy cannot oppose.

  5. Release the angels of heaven to carry out his will “Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve Him and do his will!” (Psalm 103:20)

Think about the power and spiritual breakthrough decreeing and declaring will bring in your life, and to those around you. Consider the change that is possible when we make known Gods statements of truth and will for the earth.

Today prayerfully consider how you can make known and state the truth over your life; your family, your health, your finances, your future, your workplace, your city and nation. We have God’s word, in our mouth and in our hearts, what are we going to do with it?

Prayer: Lord help me to be more aware of the things I am speaking, and to choose wisely what I am declaring and decreeing. I choose to declare and decree life, health, provision, blessing and your goodness over my life and city today. In Jesus Name. Amen.
