4 June – I Choose!

importnat over urgent.jpg

There’s a saying, “Don’t let the urgent distract you from the important!”

God knows that when we focus on the “important” we will start fulfilling our purpose in life. He has planned good things for us to do and a destiny to fulfil.

The bible says,For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)

When you love Jesus. When you choose Him consistently, turning your thoughts, your heart, your will, your emotions towards Him through the day, your life changes.

Life starts to have more meaning and purpose. You get perspective and start to see the “bigger picture”. You don’t “sweat the small stuff” and begin to realise that the things and people who scream “urgent, urgent”  are not urgent at all.

He becomes your light. You feel His presence. You experience Him; you start to see and to hear what He is saying and doing. You get to know Him!

Paul writes it this way in Philippians 3:10:

For my determined purpose is that I may know Him, that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him. Perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His person more strongly and more clearly, and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection”.

That’s why Jesus said do not be afraid, do not worry about your life. (Matthew 6:25). When we get to know Him, we also know discover that He has it all under control.

If we take the time to discover who we are and how powerful we are in God; If we understand WHAT the important is in our life, then the blessing of God and the expectation of that blessing on our life goes to work for us. Not in our strength, but in the strength of who Jesus is! He is the blessing!

That’s why Jesus really, really, wants for people to know Him!

He says to us, seek first His kingdom. That’s Heaven. Seek for “The blessing” and things of heaven to spread over the whole universe, to every creature.

That we will know Him, not just us, but that everyone would know who He is; really who He is. Not some misinformed, messed up, image of Him. Not some lies of the devil to keep people away from Him.

If we live seeking Him first, we won’t be kept so busy seeking out an existence or running around on things or circumstances that really are not urgent even though they may sound and look like it. We won’t miss the real meaning and purpose for our lives and what is truly “Important” in our day.

Ask yourself the question today. Imagine if I don’t waste all my time on the so called “urgent” that God has already said He is going to take care of? What will I do today? How will I fill my time? What will I think about, and how will I spend my day?

Go on, “Seek FIRST His kingdom and His way of doing things,” and see what God will do IN and THROUGH you today.

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us”. (Ephesians 3:20)

Prayer: Lord I trust you today.  I am going to spend time seeking you and your plan for me today and not getting sucked into the urgent. I hand over all the cares and concerns of my day to you and ask that you take care of them all. Now you lead and direct my thoughts and steps today. Show me what is important. I make myself available to be a blessing wherever you need me to be. In Jesus Name Amen.
