Earlier this week I put in a few prayer requests to Jesus. I needed a new car as a result of my previous vehicle been written off in an accident and to find a house to live in as we have moved interstate. Plus I would really like it to happen before the end of this week so I could go to the mountains and relax over the weekend.
I am happy to report that Jesus was listening as always, and has answered my requests before the week has even finished. I picked up my new car today, just got a message to say our house application has been approved and we move in a week, and tomorrow we are off to the mountains for the weekend. It may not seem like all of this is hugely important in the big scheme of things, but Jesus is interested in the small as well as the big things in our lives too.
As I shared my answers to prayer with a friend this morning I started to recount to him some of the other times God had shown himself strong on my behalf. Of how we bought our first home and had front row seats to God’s goodness and provision towards us as a family over and over again. Of moving for study and seeing God work on our behalf to provide all we needed; numerous holidays, healings, blessings, and so many answers to prayer and whispered requests in the night. These testimonies of my faith walk are memorials to God’s provision, goodness and that He cares.
Jesus is listening and always working. We may feel like nothing is happening at times, but when we ask in faith according to his Word he is listening and will be working behind the scenes to ensure everything necessary is put in place to deliver the answers to our prayers.
Today I want to encourage you to bring your requests to God. Ask and trust that Jesus is listening and will answer, not because of anything you have done, but because of who He is. That He is faithful to his promises, watches over his word to perform it, and cares about your every need and the desires of your heart.
Ask, that you will receive and your joy will be full.
“The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:8)
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
“I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” (John 16:23-24)
“Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.“ (Psalm 37:4)
Prayer: Lord thank you that you are always listening and ready to answer my prayers and the desires of my heart. Please help me to be patient and to stay in faith as I wait for my answers to come and to expect the best in every situation I face. I trust in your promises today. In Jesus name Amen.
