6 Sept – Heart to Heart (Pt 4) – Promote what you love

PromoteWhat-YouLOVE1

I read a great quote this week; it was, “promote what you love, instead of bashing what you hate.”

It’s good advice on more than one front, for when we share and promote what we love, instead of focusing and talking about the things we don’t, we are far more likely to become the people we were made to be, draw like minded people into our world, and be far more pleasant to be around.

When we promote what we love we are sharing what or whom we are passionate about and others are far more likely to respond to us, and as a result we form heart to heart connections. When we share our hearts, what excites and motivates us; what we value, and are passionate about it either attracts or repels others from who we really are and what we care about.

We can however go thorough life never really promoting and sharing what we love, and therefore never knowing true unity or many deeply connected relationships. We instead  fall into the trap of seeking to only fit in, be accepted and liked, and in the process never reveal who the real us is to many of our acquaintances, friends or even family.

God however has a better plan and that is to be one in heart, and to understand and value one another. There is great power and blessing to be had in our families, friendships, workplaces, churches and relationships when we relate opening and honestly, and make our speech, actions, plans; our whole lives about what we love rather than what we hate. It also draws those who are like-minded and share the same heart and beliefs into our world, revealing as we do who and where our real connections lie.

God actually promises He will command a blessing on that sort of unity and heart to heart connection, especially when we are seeking after those things that are pleasing to Him.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)

“After they had prayed, their meeting place was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. The congregation of believers was one in heart and soul. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they owned. With great power, the apostles continued to give their testimony about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And abundant grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:31-33)

“All the believers were together and had everything in common.” (Acts 2:44)

Today, share and promote what you love, rather than getting dragged into what you don’t, because it’s those people who resonate with what we love that we will ultimately unite and build heart to heart connections with.

Prayer: Lord help me to know what I love, and to then share and promote those things about my life, so that those people who also resonate with the things I love will be drawn into my world. Please help me make real heart to heart connections. In Jesus name Amen
