Jesus encourages us that it doesn’t take a lot of faith to release the ability of God in our lives and situations. He said, “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
One of the keys to releasing the ability of our faith is to stop saying and believing merely what we can see happening around us, and start believing and saying what’s written in the book; God’s book, because that is what God is going to establish in our lives.
When we start believing what is written in “Gods’ Book”, our faith goes to work, and even a little bit of faith is very powerful, and holds dynamic ability to shift and change the seemingly impossible. It’s like our bodies; every one has muscles or we wouldn’t be able to walk, talk or move around. But some people don’t pay much attention or work on strengthening their muscles and so they can’t lift much, run far, or exercise for long. They have been given a measure of muscle, but they have chosen not to use them, so those muscles can’t at present do much for them. But if we start to use and work out those muscles, it doesn’t take long for us to discover just how much potential energy and strength we have residing in our bodies.
The same can be said for our measure of faith. We have all been given it, but some choose to make their measure work for them. They’ve made the decision to consistently build into and strengthen their faith muscles. That’s why some people’s faith, prayers and life in God seems to work for them more than others. They’ve learnt and chosen to “work out” their faith.
Our source of “food” to activate and work out our faith isn’t protein shakes, or carb loading; our faith food is the Word of God. We must be fully persuaded and act on the Word of God for our faith muscles to grow and work.
Faith is not designed to stagnate; it’s supposed to grow which is our responsibility. Real faith is designed for the impossible, and in the process it should grow to enable us to do bigger and better things in our life, and for God’s kingdom. God wants us to commit ourselves to going to His word everyday so we can develop the faith that’s required for the tasks that have been given to us, and then turn our faith loose to work on them. This is how faith grows, and the way faith works.
But it’s important to remember that the power and ability of God, and what He has promised doesn’t need anything but our believing for it to come to pass. He is the one who has everything we need, and His word is the food we need to strengthen our faith and trust in Him to release His supernatural ability.
For, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?” (Numbers 23:19)
Today find out what is written in God’s book about your situation, your concerns, your hopes and dreams; and then take that Word (your faith food), and speak only that into your situation, so that God’s ability and power can go to work for you.
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”(Matthew 4:4)
“As for God, His way is blameless. The word of the Lord is tested [it is perfect, it is faultless] He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.” (Psalm 18:30)
“Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.” (Jeremiah 1:12)
Prayer: Lord help me to use and grow the measure of faith you have given me, and to strengthen my “faith muscles” to do big things! Holy Spirit please give me understanding and guidance as I study God’s word so that I get all the sustenance I need today. In Jesus Name Amen.
