9 August - Self Talk

Our self-talk – the endless stream of thoughts that runs through your mind is far more important than you may realise. That incessant conversation you can have with yourself can keep you stuck or catapult you into your future, depending on its positivity or negativity.

One of the great things I have learnt is that when you know Jesus and have invited Him to lead your life, He says you have “the mind of Christ”. That means you have access to God's thoughts, wisdom and understanding. You have all the positivity and insight you need for life.

For, who has known the mind of the Lord to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. (1 John 2:20 NKJV)

To recognise God’s thoughts and, consequently, the great self-talk it will create in you, God says to renew your thoughts with His words found in the bible. He advises this because God knows that without His wisdom, power and knowledge feeding your thoughts, you will entertain beliefs and self-talk that aren’t from Him but full of your thoughts of not being good enough, limiting mindsets and worldly and not heavenly wisdom.

Today, I encourage you to seek Jesus and His way of thinking. Let His words renew and transform your life. (Romans 12:2)

Make it a habit to make your internal self-talk Gods talk about who you are, your day, dreams and future, instead of holding conversations with yourself that you would never say about anyone you care about.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths”. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Prayer: Lord, I choose to talk and believe only what you say about me today and to fill my mind with positivity and life-giving thoughts. Thank you for loving me so much and having only good things in store for me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
