Dutch legend has it that there was once a small boy who upon passing a dyke on his way to school noticed a slight leak as the sea trickled in through the small hole. The boy poked his finger in the hole and in doing so stemmed the flow of water. He knew that the force and pressure of water contained behind that small hole would cause that little trickle to quickly become a raging torrent.
This story is told to illustrate a number of things; but what struck me today is that it is a lesson about how a small trickle of water soon becomes a stream and the stream a torrent and the torrent a flood sweeping all before it.
There are times in our life where we need to be like the little boy and plug up the holes in our life where the enemy has poked and pushed at us trying to break in and steal from us, or alternatively tried to “trickle” rubbish into our lives. We need to stand up to these attacks and stem the trickle of evil before it allows a “flood” of the devils pollution into our homes, families, churches, governments and communities.
But there are also times where we need to punch a hole in the dam which enemy forces have purposely erected to prevent answers to prayer and blessings from heaven from reaching us. Things get stolen and hindered in our lives, and we must be determined to reach out with a hand of faith and authority and punch a hole in the dam. To punch a hole in the wall of problems, and in the blockages that the devil has been busy setting up to hold up and steal our blessings, answers to prayer and breakthrough from heaven.
We just need a little break, a little hole, and we will have movement; a trickle which with the force and pressure of our faith and God’s word will cause a breaking forth of all that belongs to us. When we get that little breakththrough we must not let up, like we often do, because then the devil and his demons will be back on that issue in our life, and putting their pressure to bear on us, instead of the other way around.
Daniel in the Bible discovered the battle that goes on in the heavenlies when he discovered after weeks of prayer that the answer to his request had been sent from heaven the moment he’d prayed. The issue was that the angel delivering his answer had been battling with a hindering evil spirit for twenty one days, and Michael one of the archangels had to come and assist him, so he could breakthrough to Daniel.
On arrival the angel said to Daniel,“Do not fear Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words, but the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me.” (Daniel 10:12-14)
God calls us overcomers and victorious, for whom nothing is impossible. We are stronger and have far more back up than we often think. Once we punch a little hole in the dam we must keep tearing away at that hole by speaking out by faith everyday. God’s forces are with us; the angels are fighting for us, and the more we speak words of faith, and take authority the more assistance there is from heaven, and the bigger the trickle in the dam gets, until we have total breakthrough.
“Are not angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who inherit salvation”. (Hebrews 1:14)
“Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word”. (Psalm 103:20)
Today make up your mind to punch a hole in the dam. Punch a hole in the hold up of finances, of provision, of work, of assistance, of answers to prayer. To everything you read in God’s word and know is rightfully yours as one of God’s family. Punch a hole in the dam and don’t quit! Keep digging into and speaking Gods word, until just like Daniel your answer comes through.
Prayer: Lord I thank you that you are the God of the breakthrough. Please show me where to begin punching a hole in the dam wall, and reveal to me where things have been stolen or held up in my life. I’m getting ready to receive the flood of answers and blessings from heaven. In Jesus name Amen.
