John in the bible was one of Jesus’ disciples and quite a lot of the New Testament was written upon the revelation and direction John had received and knew firsthand of Jesus.
John walked the dusty roads with Jesus, saw him perform miracles, and shared many meals with Him. He identified Jesus as one who was fully man and yet fully God. John was also one of those who stood at the foot of the cross and saw Jesus crucified to death and then testified to his resurrection and ascension into heaven.
John knew Jesus as a friend but he also had another revelation of Jesus. The following is John’s account.
‘ I, John, …saw the Son of Man, in a robe and gold breastplate, hair a blizzard of white, Eyes pouring fire-blaze, both feet furnace-fired bronze, His voice a roar, right hand holding the Seven Stars, His mouth a sharp-biting sword, his face a blinding sun.
I saw this and fainted dead at his feet. His right hand pulled me upright, his voice reassured me:
“Don’t fear, I am First, I am Last, I’m Alive. I died, but I came to life, and my life is now forever. See these keys in my hand? They open and lock Death’s doors, they open and lock Hell’s gates. Now write down everything you see: things that are, things about to be.” (Revelation 1:9-18)
John knew Jesus of the Gospels, but he also met the glorified, resurrected Jesus.
If you’ve read the bible or watched movies about Jesus you would have seen Jesus depicted as the gentle, healing Jesus, who gathered everyone to himself, which is true, but we can also get to know the mighty, all-powerful, gloried Jesus whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose voice sounds like many waters, who holds all things together in His hands.
Because when we know both Jesus as our shepherd and healer as well as the glorious, all-powerful, mighty one we can rest assured he can handle everything.
What, however, I find amazing is that John on knowing Jesus says in 1 John 4:17-21,“ As he (Jesus) is, so are we in this world”.
When we know Jesus we too become powerful to enact change, pray for the sick, see the dead raised, speak life, and break through into situations. Why? Because we have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead residing in us too. We can face life and every circumstance with confidence because our hope is in who Jesus is and not just in ourselves.
"So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us – who was raised to life for us! – is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us." (Romans 8:31 MSG)
If God is for you, there is nothing, and no one who matters who can stand against you.
If you have a problem, put it in front of you and then compare the problem with the extreme lengths that God made to make sure you are okay. Against the truth that Jesus died and rose again and is King over everything. Every situation will fall deeply within the shadow of the extreme passion and interest God has for every single detail of your life. God gave you the ability to have everything under the influence of the resurrected Jesus.
There is no hopelessness in Jesus. He wants to infiltrate and overwhelm your reality on earth with the reality of heaven and who He is.
Today wherever you are and whatever you may be facing I encourage you to look to the revelation in the Word and in the presence of Jesus and who He is. He is the Jesus of the Gospels, but He is also the Alpha and the Omega the beginning and the end. The one whose eyes blaze with fire and face shines like the sun. Nothing is too hard for Him!

Prayer: Lord please help me to know you as you truly are, and that as I do I will come to understand more fully that nothing is too difficult for you to handle and nothing too insignificant that you do not care. I want to know you more Lord, and to know the power that resides in you and therefore also in me. I declare that every situation I am facing comes under your covering and supernatural power to restore, heal, and bring breakthroughs today. In Jesus' name Amen.
