1 April – Dreams do come true!

ephesians 3-20

Today my mum left for her latest overseas trip. She is an avid traveller and is hardly home from her travels before she is busy planning her next adventure.

The thing is, it’s God who seems to send her all over the world, and who is always seeking to make Mum’s hearts desire to travel become a reality, as He directs her to far off exotic and idyllic locations that many people only dream of visiting. Sometimes Mum hesitates and even argues with God about her destinations and whether she should be going, and I shake my head and tell her, “Mum just stop arguing and go, because God has a plan, and He wants to bless you”. Which indeed He always does, as she sees, and experiences wonderful places, and gets to meet people from all over the world who she is then able to encourage with her stories of God’s faithfulness, and her amazing testimony of God healing her from cancer.

What I’ve learnt over the years from watching my Mum travel all over the world is that God sees and knows the secret desires of our hearts, and that they don’t go unnoticed by Him. He sees, He hears and He wants to shower His love upon us, and bless us by fulfilling the dreams that He often has actually placed in our hearts. He just has a way to do it, and a time and place to make it happen which is often quite different from ours. However that does not mean that it won’t happen, or that God doesn’t care about what matters to us; it simply means He gets things done differently from how or when we might.

God says in His word, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

I’ve discovered that when we keep trusting and walking in relationship with Him that He’ll make our dreams come to pass, and that when they do they are always far better and more joyful than if we’d gone off in our own timing and strength.

Ephesians 3:20 in the bible puts it this way, “Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us.”

Today if you have dreams in your heart and they don’t seem to be happening, entrust them to God because He has a plan. He loves us and wants us to have a full and abundant joy filled life that shouts of His love and goodness. He is a good, good Father and when we are happy, He is happy, which is why we can trust Him to work everything out for our good, if we just keep listening, and loving Him.

Keep dreaming, keep believing, and keep trusting Him, because He really does love us so much.

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass”. (Psalm 37:2-5)

Prayer: Father thank you that you love to grant the desires of our heart, and to bring joy to our lives. Help me to entrust you with my dreams today, knowing that you love and want the very best for my life. In Jesus name Amen.
