12 Aug – There’s a Dream in you

God gave Noah a Dream – a dream of an Ark that would carry two of every animal, that would carry Noah’s family to safety, a dream to survive and thrive

God gave Abraham a dream – God said to Abraham “Count the stars if you can – this is how many your descendants will be.”

God gave Joseph a dream – That Joseph would be a great ruler over many people, an influencer for God.

God gave Moses a dream – a dream to free God’s people through miraculous signs and wonders.

God gave Joshua a dream- that he would lead God’s people to receive their promised land, a land of freedom and abundance.

God gave David a dream – a dream that he would be King. Not just any king but a King of the line of Christ Himself.

God gave Mary a dream – a dream of a child who would be Messiah, the Saviour of all mankind.

God gave Paul a dream – a dream of Churches starting and flourishing all over the world. Of people discovering freedom in Christ.

God is into dreams – He is the author and finisher of good dreams – of dreams and visions of achieving the impossible.

When Noah set out to build the Ark it had never rained. For over 100 years Noah worked to fulfil the dream, the vision inside him…without one drop of rain.

When Abraham was told his descendants would be like the stars he was well beyond child bearing age, both he and his wife.

When Joseph shared his dream his brothers beat him and threw him in a pit then sold him into slavery, where he eventually ended up in prison for a crime he never committed.

David was anointed as king – and then spent the next few years hiding in caves – far from the promised throne.

Mary was not married and had never “known” a man – yet here she was pregnant out of wedlock – the punishment where she lived was death by stoning.

Paul was shipwrecked, beaten, stoned, whipped in pursuit of his vision of new churches starting all over the world.

Each one of these had a vision, a dream inside of them.

Each of them was willing to suffer for their dream – to pursue what God has placed inside of them – even when it looked like it was impossible.

Jeremiah 29: 11 says “I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

God says in the Psalms “He knew you before the foundation of the world”. Before the world was even formed God knew you and had a plan for your life.

So why does your plan often seem so far away? Why does it seem – if God has a plan and purpose for our lives, that we seem to be heading in the other direction, that the roadblocks – the mountains – are insurmountable and stopping us from achieving the dream within us?

Many people never become who they were made to be – they let go of their dream – because it is too hard – it looks impossible. Many people give up dreaming, or make their dream smaller and settle for less, until eventually they stop dreaming at all, and just exist.

But God never made you to just exist. He never made you to be ordinary – He made you to be the most awesome You that ever existed.

John 10:10 says Jesus came to earth to give you life. What sort of life – Abundant Life!

You see while you were made for greatness – made to achieve the vision God placed inside you, the thing called sin gets in and steals the dream. There is a God, there is a satan, and satan’s plan is to get you to settle, to get you to compromise and to let go of your dream. Because when you let go of your dream, you no longer shine. And when you don’t shine, you no longer reflect the glory and majesty of God; you lose your peace and joy, and you are no longer a threat to satan. Let me tell you one of the reasons why we have started Jesus Central. It exists so that people just like you and me can rediscover their God given dreams and visions. It doesn’t matter if you are 2 or 102 God has a plan and purpose – a totally spectacular splendiferously awesome dream for your life.

Holy Spirit desires to help you rediscover your dream, and to equip, empower and encourage you to be the totally awesome, abundant living, world changing devil kicking God glorifying person God made you to be!

You may have given up on your dream, you may have given up on God, you may even have given up on yourself – but God hasn’t given up on you. Let His presence soak you. Allow yourself to think the impossible – and let the dream rise in you.

Prayer: Father, I submit myself to you and all you have for me. Holy Spirit refresh the Father’s dream to me, that I may be all you have for me. In Jesus name Amen.
