16 April – Resurrection Power!

resurreciton power

There was a man named Elisha who is talked about in the bible. He was a prophet and miracle worker of God. Some time after Elisha was dead and buried, a band of enemy raiders invaded Israel. During one of the battles, some soldiers were attempting to bury one of their friends when the raiders attacked them. In desperation they quickly placed their dead comrade into the tomb of Elisha. The bones of Elisha had become exposed and as soon as the dead man’s body touched the bones of Elisha he was restored to life. He came back to life because there was still some residual power of God in Elisha’s bones. (2 Kings 13:21)

It’s this power that raised Lazarus from the dead, that opens blind eyes, heals the lame, cleanses lepers, and sets the demon oppressed free. It’s this power that raised Jesus from the dead, and which also fills our whole beings when we open our hearts and lives to God’s love and forgiveness. God’s presence and power when released changes whole atmospheres, heals bodies, cures diseases, creates, restores, multiplies and overrides the natural order of things.

“Sometimes we imagine that we are a hollow case, and that our spirit dwells in the hollow. This is not the case at all. The spiritual life of God actually infuses the physical body. This life of God gets inside our flesh and our bones.” (Phil Pringle) This is where the healing, restoring, miracle working life and power of God lives.

We are physical and spiritual beings and our spiritual nature is expressed through our bodies. That’s why the bible calls us temples of the Holy Spirit. When we ask Jesus to be part of our life, we become a place where He dwells. His spiritual life and power becomes part of who we are. That’s why the dead bones of Elisha still held power, because the “stuff” of God still resided in Elisha’s bones.

The power of God lives in our flesh and our bones. It lives in physical things. The presence of God can fill buildings and atmospheres. It infuses into our bodies, our workplaces, and our homes. This “stuff” of God touches and gets into and on us and things and causes miracles to happen. It changes lives; heals diseases, raises the dead and causes evil spirits to leave. It is the Spirit of God, and where He is no evil or it’s effects can hang around for long.

However if faith is absent and there is an active atmosphere of unbelief this will restrict the release and flow of this life of God. Even Jesus was restricted in the level of power He was able to release and operate in because of people’s unbelief. It’s why when He raised the young girl who had died back to life He chose to remove everyone except two of his disciples and the girl’s parent’s from the room. He knew that unbelief and lack of faith would hinder the flow of power. (Mark 5:21-43)

Jesus chose to die to carry the burden and weight of our sin, sickness and sorrow even unto death. But death could not hold Him, and once He had triumphed over every evil force He rose again. The amazing part of this is that now this same power and presence of God is available to all who believe in Him. When we activate our faith we begin to trade in the currency of heaven, and the miracle working power of God is released in our lives. The impossible becomes possible, and every curse is broken.

Today, look to what Jesus has done for you in choosing to die in your place. He bore every shame, sickness, disappointment, sin, lack and evil that you could ever commit or experience, and He triumphed over it. Then on the third day He rose again and now chooses to dwell within us by His Spirit.

Whatever you are facing know that Jesus is bigger. Whatever hurt, disappointment, failure, evil, lack, or sicknesses you may be facing know Jesus is able to turn it around, and to infuse every situation with His life and miracles working power. No problem is too big for Him, and no hurt is too deep for Him to heal. Now that is worth celebrating!

But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes.

The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” (Luke 24:1-5)

“Looking at them, Jesus said, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

Prayer: Jesus thank you for all that you have done for me. I come to you and ask that you fill my life with your resurrection power that brings life to those things that are dead, and that restores, and heals. Please work in my life and my circumstances today. In Jesus Name Amen.
