16 July – How To Win

I needed a reminder that everything is going to be okay today. Fortunately Philip my husband is a great coach and pointed me to the fact that I need to have some goals that are easy wins to encourage me as I achieve them. That’s because winning even in a small way helps us to remain focused and motivated on what we’ve set out to do.

Some keys on how to achieve small wins are to:

Set yourself up to succeed. Have small goals that you can achieve easily within a short time span.

List 5-10 smaller easy win goals you want to be able to check off your to do list: clearing out the spare room, cleaning your car, paying a bill, writing a thank you note, sorting your email inbox, finishing a book you’ve been reading, completing a small project.

Plan the next 30 days on your calendar and allocate a specific day and time to accomplish each small goal. Set the timer for 20 minutes and get as much done in this time each day until completed.

Track the progress you have made and check off when you achieve each task. As you do your confidence and motivation to keep pursuing your bigger goals will grow as you accumulate each small win. Small short term wins lead to achieving long term goals.

Your small wins are like keys which open big doors to achieving your dreams. Instead of looking at your failures, or how long it is taking to succeed it’s much more effective to acknowledge and celebrate every win and achievement no matter how small.

God wants to help you succeed in life and become the best version of yourself. He is there to help, and it’s okay to call out to Him, “I need help with this.” God says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Today choose to focus on the positive actions to win in the small things, which act as keys to your bigger goals being achieved. Then thank God for His strength, wisdom and help as you step out and do it.

And remember, every day, you have the opportunity to do things right, achieve your goals, and make your future better.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the amazing life you have planned for me and for the small wins that I can achieve everyday. Please help me to celebrate every step of my journey as you give me the grace and strength to live my best life. In Jesus name Amen.
