16 Nov – What Can You Think?

positive thoughts.jpg

I was having a conversation with our youngest son tonight about what he could think about. He’s been worrying about some things and we were discussing the power of his thoughts.

The bible says, “As a man thinks so shall He be”, and that “we are transformed by the renewing of our minds” (Proverbs 23:7; Romans 12:2), which means what we think about is very important to us becoming all that we were made to be. God created our minds as  powerful instruments enabling us to imagine, create, innovate, breakthrough and overcome and He expects us to use them.

What we think about we say, and what we say our emotions and bodies respond to. If we think thoughts of fear and defeat we will speak those kinds of words and  our bodies will then respond, yet if we think about overcoming and thoughts of hope our words will reflect this and our bodies will respond with feelings of courage, excitement and anticipation for good.

Dr. Caroline Leaf in her book Switch On Your Brain says, “As we think, we change the physical nature of our brain. As we consciously direct our thinking, we can wire out toxic patterns of thinking and replace them with healthy thoughts.” As we change the way we think it changes our perspective and beliefs regarding our circumstances, which then changes how we behave.

Think for a moment about the incredible people throughout history and how they experienced, facilitated and created all the amazing things we now enjoy and get to read about. People like the Wright brothers who dared to dream and think beyond what was possible – to build a machine that would allow man to fly. They kept on thinking, daring to dream and persevered until they overcame and achieved what they had set out to do. They chose to set their minds to work and dared to imagine that man could fly – “As a man thinks so shall He be”.

Today what can you think? Because what you think you will talk about and what you talk about you can pray, and what you speak out in prayer and conversation will then cause your body to respond with either fear or faith and anxiety or excitement. How we physically and emotionally respond to these thoughts and words will will then result in our positive, proactive actions or inertia.

Plus when we get God involved in our thinking, dreaming and imagining He says He will do exceedingly more than we can dream, think, pray for or possibly imagine as He works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20) So I encourage you to start thinking great thoughts today…

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.  Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:22-24)

Prayer: Lord thank you for my ability to think and to imagine great things. Would you please remind me to think on those things that are positive and worth thinking about, which will then help me to reach my highest life where all things become possible with you. In Jesus name Amen.
