17 March – Who’s way?

I recently asked God a question, “What am I supposed to do? “What do you want me to do?” “I felt Him reply “Seek me! Seek my face and abide in me”.

Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. ( Matthew 6:32-33)

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing”. (John 15:4)

Each of us has something in our hand to give to others to bless them with. Jesus said “don’t worry, don’t toil or get into the worlds system. Simply seek me and  all those  things everyone runs after, I will add them to you. I will lead you in the way you should go”. He even says He will teach you to profit and prosper in all you do.

“I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go. (Isaiah 48:17)

No where in bible does it say run after success, money, prestige, even a husband, wife or partner etc. But it does say seek Jesus, fix your eyes on Jesus, surrender, and then He will add to you, He will prosper, He will give grace, and favour to you.

The thing is, to seek God we have to reach the point where we surrender. “Not my way, but your way”. When we surrender He takes what we have and makes something amazing. Whether it is for Him to prosper you, to bless you with healthy relationships, peace in your home, a fulfilling job, or for you to use what you have to bless someone else etc.

When we surrender we acknowledge that we’ve been trying to make things happen our own way and now we let go of our way, and choose to listen and do things God’s way. We don’t dictate to God, or bring a half-hearted surrender. We can’t have it both ways, our ways when we feel like it, and God’s way only  when we need help.

The thing He asks is for us to love Him, to seek after His way of doing things, to do what He asks. If you love Him, you do what He asks. Not our way but his way. It’s surrender in the little things, as well as the bigger things in our lives.

Jesus said “You are My friends if you do what I command you. “No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you”(John 15:15

Too often we are like a horse with a bit and bridal. We will only be led if we are dragged. Instead God wants to lead us to fullness of life by simply guiding us with a look, or a quiet word. How much simpler and less full of drama our life would have if we were surrendered.” (Psalm 32:8-9)

Are you surrendered, does He have all your heart, all of your life, or just what is comfortable? It’s not just a one off decision, its walking every day in surrender.

Check your heart. How surrendered are you? Spend some time just seeking Jesus to get to know Him more,  do what He asks quickly. Jesus has blessing on His mind. If you seek him and surrender, He”ll lead and guide you into a good place.

Prayer: Lord forgive me when I have been like a horse with a bit, and difficult to lead and guide because of my own fear, stubbornness and lack of trust in you.  Help me to walk in surrender and to daily seek you.  In Jesus name Amen
