19 Nov – Make Me An Arrow

I’ve often told God that I’ll be like an arrow in His bow. Wherever He points me I will go. However the thing about being an arrow is that you have to trust and rely on the One who places you in the bow and then also learn to rest and allow Him to hold you poised, aimed and ready until it’s time to fly.

I often think about how long God can actually hold us in the poised position. Just consider Moses who spent 40 years working as a shepherd for Jethro in Midian.  God needed to teach Moses patience and trust. The Bible says that Moses became the meekest man on earth (Numbers 12:3), before He was sent before Pharoh and to lead His people out of slavery.  Or Joseph who for 14yrs was held in a jail cell, or Paul who after his Damascus road experience and encountering Jesus also spent the next 14yrs hidden from sight as God refined Him. It seems these heroes of faith were placed in Gods hands – in His bow, but they were also held there poised for a specific time, until they and the season was ready for them to fulfill their assignment.

The frustrating thing I’ve discovered about God is that He often doesn’t seem to be any great hurry. He is so intentional in what He does, but He will wait for things to be put in position; for our’s and the destiny we have to be refined and complete before He’ll allow us to be released from His bow.

We want to soar through the air – and rightly so for we are all designed for amazing things and the good works that God has prepared for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). But He knows how to do things; how to position and best orchestrate everything to fall into place for our life and as part of His story. He’s intentional, specific, the master of strategic planning and knows the end from the beginning.

Today if you are crying out for something to happen; to be released, to soar, to do something, to be someone then trust the process. Choose to consistently place your life, like an arrow in the hands of the One  who has always purposed and planned to launch you into your destiny.

He knows the prep work, the refining process and when and how to cause us to fly. And with God nothing; no experience, learning curve or circumstance is ever, ever wasted. “He works all things together for our good” and promises that He will perfect that which concerns us…so relax, rest in God’s care and get ready you’re gonna soar.

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NLT)

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:3)

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14)

Prayer: Lord I place my life in your hands and trust you to lead, guide and orchestrate everything concerning my life. Please direct me Jesus – I’m your arrow and I’m trusting you to set me flying at exactly the right time, place and assignment today. In Jesus name Amen.
