20 August - Getting Rid Of Stinking Thinking

When we allow God to work in us, He will start speaking to us about who He says we are and the plans He has for our life.

He starts to renew our minds, ridding us of our “stinking thinking” and renewing our thoughts with what he says in His word.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”. (Romans 12:2)

He says you are a new creation: you are loved, you are whole, you are righteous, you are healed, you are free, you are forgiven, you have a sound mind, you are strong, you are bold, you are brave, you are patient, you are kind and loving, you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

His words have power – dynamic power in them. They have the power to restore and transform, but it’s our choice whether we receive these words from God or we reject them.

When He speaks, things are shaped, changed, and brought to life. He wants us to speak what He speaks and to agree with what He says about us.

Unfortunately, a lot of the time, we can be speaking absolute rubbish. We don’t need others to run us down; we do a good job of being negative, and self-deprecating, and can often even do the devil’s job for him by the words we declare over our lives.

I encourage you to allow God to reveal any “stinking thinking” you have about yourself and then start agreeing with what God says about you. You might have to stay quiet about what you say when you begin to do this because we can all get into the habit of speaking rubbish.

Today get out God’s word and research what He says about who you are in Jesus, the plans He has for your future, and how He sees and feels about you, and speak that about who you are and your life today.

Prayer: Lord, please show me where I have been thinking and speaking out of line with what you say about me. Let your Word become real to me as I renew my mind and speech with your Word and allow you to remove old habits from my life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
