20 Jan -Passion

Many people have lost their passion for life. They’ve lost their enthusiasm. At one time they were excited about their dreams. They got up with a passion and a purpose. But now because of the time that has passed, the disappointments they have experienced, and the pressures of life, they’re not excited anymore. They’ve lost the fire.

The thing is we need to understand that most of our life is routine, and that anything can become stagnant if we allow it to do so.

You can have an exciting job, but it can become boring. You may be married or in a relationship with a loving, amazing person, but if you don’t nourish that relationship and put something into it, over time, it’s likely to become stagnant.

The bible talks about stirring ourselves up everyday and fanning into flame the gifts that God has given us.

2 Tim 1:6 – “ Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Paul was saying “Timothy, don’t let your fire go out. Stay passionate about your life. Stay enthusiastic about your dreams.”

If there is still a spark within you, no matter how small, you can do your part and fan it into flame.

Charles Capps felt the Lord say to him one day “My people say what they have, rather than having what they say”

Talking about the bad stuff all the time just reinforces it and it’s negative power in your life. Start talking like Jesus talks. The devil doesn’t need our help “talking up”  all the evil in the world. There’s enough people doing that already. We are to speak like God speaks, bringing heaven to earth.

Stop looking at what’s wrong in your life and the world,  and start being grateful for what’s right!

To have an attitude of: “My dreams may not have come to pass yet; I may have had some obstacles in my path, but I know God is still in control, I know He’s got great things in store for me, so I’m going to get up each day and enjoy and be excited about my life.”

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance for you serve the Lord Christ.” (Col 3:23)

Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” (Rom 12:11)

You may not have perfect job, or house, relationships, situation etc., but you can be grateful for what you do have.

Have an attitude of gratitude today. God doesn’t want us to live our lives with an attitude of obligation.

You don’t HAVE to do anything, you GET to do it. God is the one who has given you breath.

“I don’t have to go work – I get to go to work

I don’t’ have to take care of these kids, they’re a blessing; I get to take care of them.

I don’t have to study, I get to study and gain an education.

I don’t have to give; I get to give.”

Count your blessings today and have an “attitude of gratitude”. Your heart is still beating; you still have breath. Don’t’ be afraid, you get to be alive today. Stir yourself up, go for a walk, hug someone, call a friend for a catch up, do something that makes you glad you are alive today. And thank God you get to do any of it!

Prayer: Thank you Lord that I am alive today. Help me to focus on the positives in my life, and “fan into flame” my God given gifts, and passion for life. Help me to let go of the past, and understand I can’t control everything, but I do get to choose to enjoy today. In Jesus Name Amen.
