Yesterday I had a great day visiting the Blue Mountains in Sydney, and was reminded of just how big God is as I looked at the vast and incredible scenery.
The universe is quite an incredible place and just contemplating such things as the immensity of the number of stars in the sky is mind boggling, such as if every person were to count different stars, each person would have to count over 50 billion stars without counting the same star twice.
All around us creation says “Look at how I was created, look at the infinite wisdom and insight with which I was formed. Look at the sunrise and the sunset, the ebb and flow of the tides, the rhythm of the seasons, the beauty of a newborn baby or the greatness of the heavens above on a cloudless night” “Look and see”, creation cries out there is a God and creator of infinite love and limitless power.
God says that He knows the number of stars and calls each of them by name. (Psalm 147:4) He know when we sit and when we rise. He knows our thoughts before we speak them and the hidden things in our hearts. He sees and knows everything, and in the midst of all of this greatness and majesty He seesm cares for and loves us. (Psalm 147:4; Matthew 10:30)
“You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.…” (Psalm 139:2)
As I stood looking at the amazing mountain scenery yesterday I was reminded of the greatness of God and that He is more than capable of handling my every need and prayer. Sometimes its helpful to get out from under the “stuff ” we have to deal with everyday and to take the opportunity to literally stand on the mountain tops. It quickly brings perspective of how big God is and how small our challenges are for Him to deal with.
Today I encourage you to take some time to think on just how powerful, creative, and unlimited God is. There are no limits or boundaries He cannot cross or override and there are no limits to His love.
Prayer: Lord I’m going to take some time to think about all you have done and acknowledge your greatness. Please help me to keep that in mind next time I am faced with a challenge and to remember to see things from the perspective that you are a more than capable of handling anything I may face. In Jesus name Amen.
