29 May – Don’t Mess With The Mumma Bear

I am known for being very protective of my family and especially my kids, and everyone who gets to know me discovers I am serious when I say not to mess with them. It’s like the saying, “Don’t poke or mess with the Mumma Bear’ and I mean it.

The last few days, I’ve especially been contemplating that if I go to such lengths to protect and fight for my kids and loved ones, how much more will God do the same for us.

If someone or something messes with us, He will go in to defend, protect, provide and override whatever and whoever is necessary to be faithful to His Word to care, protect and provide. You mess with his kids, and he will enact justice. “The LORD gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.” (Psalm 103:6).

As I say, “it’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God.” (Heb 10:31). God’s Word is very clear that we don’t need to be consumed with a desire for vengeance because the Lord says, “vengeance is mine”, and all through the bible, you can see where God intervened to fulfil His Word to His people, even to the point of overriding the natural laws of nature to do so.

He made an axe head that a man had borrowed from a friend to float so that the user wouldn’t go into debt. Caused waters to part to provide a way through to the other side, raised people from the dead, closed lions mouths and rescued men from the fire. He silenced storms, confused enemy armies so that they attacked one another, reversed time where more hours in the day were needed, turned water into wine, multiplied food, and overcame sin and death so we could live free.

“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.” (Romans 12:9)Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.” (Proverbs 20:22)

Whenever you face a situation where you need God to intervene and show himself strong on your behalf, trust Him that He will do just that. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) It may look different from how you envisaged He would answer, and the timing is usually not what you expect. But He is faithful, and you can count on Him to act on your behalf, to protect, provide and bring justice as He works all things together for your good.

Today, put everything in his hands, declare His promises as you act to do what His Word says, and then trust God to do the rest.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:19)

“The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?” (Numbers 23:19)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and that you show yourself strong on behalf of your people. I ask that you meet every need in my life today and work all things together for my good. In Jesus name Amen
