4 Jan – Finding The Beauty In Everyday

I have a “One Word” for the year which I focus on and pursue. This year’s word is beautiful, and I’m determined to search for and find beauty every day regardless of the news, drama, adverse reports or my concerns and worries.

The definition for beautiful is something that possesses qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear and think. It is delighting the senses and is that which is wonderful and excellent.

Beauty prospers our souls, ministers to our hearts and reminds us God is good. I believe that God purposely created so many beautiful places, people, and things simply for us to enjoy, and He has a key for us cultivating more beauty in our life everyday. He says, “whoever wants to embrace real life and find beauty each day is to stop speaking evil, hurtful words and lying. Turn from what is wrong and cultivate what is good and eagerly pursue peace in every relationship, making it your prize.” (1 Peter 3:10-12)

When you follow God’s advice and value beauty it changes your focus; you tend to not get caught up so much in the world’s negative, ugly thinking or behaviour. Your perspective, language and even what you create and express alters as you share what you behold and peace flows into your relationships.

Today if you want to experience more joy, beauty and all that is profitable and good then, “Keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and then maintain it. Then the eyes of the Lord will watch over you, and his ears will be open to your prayers”. (3 Peter 3:10 NLT)

So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honourable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you, and the God of peace will be with you in all things. (Philippians 4:6-9 TPT)

Prayer: Lord even though there are negative and ugly aspects to the world we live in, I ask that you help me see the beauty in every day. Thank you for this day and all that you have made for me to enjoy. In Jesus name Amen.
