7 June – What if?

What if we were totally free? If we didn’t get stuck in the cares, striving or expectations all around us.

What if we could just “run” unhindered through our life, and weren’t hampered by the world and it’s systems?

What if we were untethered from the world? From its expectations, voices, pressures, fears and distractions? Living beyond fear, where freedom is!

What if we didn’t feel constrained at all, by our finances, other people, our health, or by our life in general?  Where it didn’t matter what others thought, where we lived free of offense, or the concern of offending others. Where our identity was totally found and secure in our heavenly Father – Pappa.

What if we lived knowing that our identity is not found in position, in “doings”, nor in anyone else’s praise, but our identity is found in the acceptance received from heaven?

What if every day we woke up knowing deep down inside of us that we are totally and absolutely loved, and we couldn’t do anything to change that?

How wonderfully free we would feel, how free we would be, and how much happier we would live!

The thing is those “what if’s are on offer already! Jesus came to deliver them to all of us. To all mankind. Sadly we far too often miss it, or we keep getting stuck in the ways of earth instead of fixing our eyes and lives on the ways of heaven.

We get stuck, and think we can only live free from all the constraints, pressures, and burdens if we are “good” enough, or ”do” enough. Or we think we have to wait until we die to live like we dream. We think we will only be loved if we deserve it. We have allowed ourselves to get stuck in “works” instead of simply receiving Pappa’s grace towards us. Instead of receiving His love and friendship.

The bible says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” (1 John 3:1)

He wants us to know Him, and to understand that all those “what if’s”  are ours already. We need only look to Him, and get to know who we are, no longer coming under yokes that don’t belong on us, but instead connecting ourselves firmly to Jesus.

It’s a bit like walking through life with the ultimate boss who has everything at their disposal. They have no needs, but have all provision and power to use where they see fit.  If we had that boss, and they said “stick with me, I’ve got you covered”, we’d be totally relaxed with “not a care in the world”. Jesus is that guy.  Every day we need only say “I’m with Him”, and He promises that every need is met, and every circumstance  comes under His authority. He says to us, “I’ve got this“.

Today, fix your eyes on heaven. You are a citizen already, you have a passport. Jesus is your “go to”, so don’t struggle or tire yourself out doing it alone. Stick with Him and He’ll see that everything is more than alright!

But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives.” (Philippians 3:20)

Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things”.(Colossians 3:1-2)

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow.” (Matthew 6:20-33)

Prayer: Lord thank you that you have all the concerns of my life in your hands. Help me to trust you, and to really discover for myself that you are my “go to” with everything in my life. You promise you won’t let me down. In Jesus name Amen.
