8 Oct – Be Brave – By Isaac

As adults we can have a tendency to become cynical with age and the more we experience in life the more doubts and concerns we can focus on. Instead of facing any hurdles and choosing to take them in our stride we can allow them to slow us down, knock us aside or cause us to give up. Whereas a child sees the prize, finish line and the reward and is far more inclined to face their fears and go for it.

With this in mind I’d like to share what our youngest son Isaac had to say as I asked him what I should blog about today. Jesus Himself said that we are to be like little children so this is what Isaac had to say…..

Hi I’m Isaac, Dayle’s son. Today I went to horse riding camp. I went on a trail ride and did ground work and it was fun, but when it came to jumping I got really nervous. I was nervous because it’s different and I don’t want to fall off. But my riding teacher said, “Come on you can do this”. So I went over the jumps and aced it. I even did the jumping circuit twice and I feel really good now because I faced my fear and found out that even if I’m scared things can be fun if I’d only try.

“Just because you feel scared to do something doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Don’t think about all the bad stuff that could happen, instead think about all the good stuff that could happen.”

I learnt today that I can do lots of things if I trust Jesus to look after me and you can to. Even if something does go wrong or not quite to plan He’ll still be there with you, take care of you and help you to be brave and get back up again if you fall.

Today if you’re feeling scared of doing something new or are worried about something that’s challenging, just remember that Jesus is there with you looking after you all the way and with Him you can do it.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)

At that time the disciples came to ask Jesus, “Who is considered to be the greatest in heaven’s kingdom realm?” Jesus called a little one to his side and said to them, “Learn this well: Unless you dramatically change your way of thinking and become teachable, and learn about heaven’s kingdom realm with the wide-eyed wonder of a child, you will never be able to enter in. Whoever continually humbles himself  to become like this gentle child is the greatest one in heaven’s kingdom realm. And if you tenderly care for this little one on my behalf, you are tenderly caring for me. (Matthew 18:3-5 TPT)

Prayer: Lord help me to be brave and to focus on you, and thank you that I can do all things because you’re there with me. Lord would your hand be upon me and bless me indeed and keep me from all evil. In Jesus name Amen.
