9 Dec -Little by little everyday!

How does something grow? Does it grow instantly the moment it is planted, or little by little every day? The answer is a little at a time, 24 hours a day, every day. The same is true for anything we undertake in life. We accomplish the most when we are consistent over an extended period of time.

Many times we can begin a new fitness regime, diet, study or even our relationship with God; we can “go hard” at it studying, praying, “working out” for a few days and then far too often we quit. Many people start things brilliantly, but give up soon after, for it is not so much how we begin that counts, but how we finish that really matters.

When it comes to the things of the God and our purpose in life there are no short cuts. To really understand who we are, and to learn to use our faith, gifts and talents productively and powerfully we have to be consistent and constant in keeping our relationship with Jesus; in reading, listening and keeping His words before us, and in seeking to grow in what we have been given.

Little by little every day we grow stronger. Little by little we understand more deeply who we are, and who He is. Little by little we discover our purpose. Little by little everyday, we put into practice the things we have seen and heard; not just when we want to or feel like it, but a little at a time everyday.

Today, make a decision to begin the daily walk of constant growth. Determine to do, say and be the person you know you are called to be. For it’s not just what we say, it’s what we do; it’s not how we start, but how we finish. It not just who we are, it’s who we can become.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)

“The end of a matter is better than its beginning; Patience of spirit is better than haughtiness of spirit (pride).” (Ecclesiastes 7:8)
