1 Jan – Happy New Year – Keep going!

keep going

New Year’s Day is often the time people set or begin their New Year’s resolutions, but perhaps it would be more beneficial if we simply kept building on the life resolutions that we have made already.

Many times we don’t need New Year’s resolutions we just need to keep doing what we know we should be doing. It’s not necessary therefore to keep making annual resolutions when we need only choose to continue and strengthen our resolve to focus on the journey God already has for us.

Today then as the first day of the year doesn’t need to be about brand new goals but instead for us to ask God to reignite and remind us of the goals and vision He has for us, and to acknowledge that how we run our race is just as important as achieving the end goal. Today is a day where we take time to refocus on the plan and strategy that God individually has for our lives, and to know that if it has been difficult to not give up, but to keep going.

For when we are going through a hard time is not the time to stop. When we are going through Hell is not the place to give up or to wallow because if we do we will get stuck there. We must keep going!

However if we have got stuck in “hell”  it’s imperative to realise that we need to do something different. For us to evaluate and acknowledge that whatever we are doing is not working and choose to make a change.

If what you are doing is keeping you in the same position and the same problems, then stop just “spinning your wheels”, and change the process to overcome the situation. Jesus said we would have trouble, but that we were to take heart because He had overcome them. (John 16:33) Whatever our trouble He has a way through – the key is to stop spinning and panicking and listen long enough to hear His strategy and plan for us to get out.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5)

Today, as a new year begins keep doing what you know you should be doing. Take the time to refocus, to refuel and to reconnect with God who makes all things possible.

If you are going through a hard time, don’t stop there; Don’t quit or give up because God is with you, and He has a way through, and in Him you can do all things. (Philippians 4:13)

If you are stuck and nothing seems to be working then take time to evaluate what you have been doing, believing and speaking. Step back, ask God for His wisdom; spend time in prayer and His word and seek His strategy and process to get out of the situation so that you can carry on running your race.

What God has started He is faithful to complete in us, and He states that when He is for us, who can be against us. Trust Him, listen and do exactly what He directs you to do and He will make a way where it seemed there was no way.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:31-32)

May this year be one filled of bliss and wonder as God’s mighty power works in and though your life to bring your dreams and God’s amazing plan to pass.

Prayer: Lord thank you that you have a plan for my life and that I just need to keep doing what I know to do, and follow the guidance and wisdom in your Word. Please help me to keep running my race with wisdom, power and grace. In Jesus name Amen.

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us”. (Ephesians 3:20 Amplified Bible)
