10 Feb -What are you thinking?

Breakthrough neuro-scientific research is confirming daily what God has laid out in His word.

What you think every moment of every day becomes a physical reality in your brain and your body, which affects your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”. (Romans 12:2)

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7)

The brain responds to our mind by sending neurological signals throughout the body. This means that our thoughts and emotions are transformed into physiological and spiritual effects, and these effects are reflected in our mental and emotional states.

This all means that our beliefs actually take on a physical existence.

It’s a profound thought that something like a belief can make a positive or negative change in our cells.

The Great news is we are wired for love. Our mental circuitry is wired for the positive. We are made in the image of God. Before sin and death and negative things came into creation, we were made in God’s image and our default setting is one of being designed to make good choices.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them”. (Genesis 1:27)

Our bad choices and reactions were wired in by our choices, and the absence of a relationship with God, and can therefore be wired out.

Our brain is neuroplastic. Neuroplasticity by definition means the brain is malleable and adaptable, changing moment by moment of every day.

Scientists are finally beginning to see the brain as having renewable characteristics. (Romans 12:2)

It is no longer viewed as a machine that is hardwired early in life, unable to adapt, and wearing out with age.

Scientists are using brain-imaging techniques and the evidence of behavioural changes, to discover that people can change their brains with their minds. In other words our thinking brings change!

God has built in the operation principal of neurogenesis – which is new baby nerve cells, birthed daily for our mental benefit.

Lamentations 3:22-23 in the bible states that “the Lord’s mercies are new every morning”. God has given us remodelling abilities every morning with our brand new baby nerve cells.

The truth of Romans 12 is that we can “Be transformed by the renewing of our mind”

That’s good news. We don’t need to believe any longer that we are stuck thinking and living a certain way, victims because of circumstances or the negative forces in our lives.

We are co-creators of our destiny alongside God. We have been designed to create thoughts, and from these we live out our lives.

“As a man thinks, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7)

It’s with our minds that we understand the truths set down in our renewed spirits. It is with our minds that we wire these truths into the brain, which is part of the body.

It is with our minds that we choose daily to develop the spiritual part of who we are, and “therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21)

It is with our minds that we reject or believe the lies of the enemy.

It is with our minds that we change the physical reality of our brains to reflect our choices.

God has always given us the choice. It’s up to us what we do with the life and amazing truths of His Word each day.

We are powerful, made in the image of a creative, brilliant God, and designed to make good, godly choices.

“Switch on your brain” today. Believe God, and His great love for you, and the good things He has planned for your life.

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness”. (2 Peter 1:3)

Choose well today what and who you believe. The thoughts you think matter, so make them good ones!

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things”. (Philippians 4:8)

Prayer: Lord I thank you that I am powerful. Thank you for giving me the ability and freedom to choose. Help me choose well today what I think and believe. Please open up your Word to me. In Jesus Name Amen.
