10 June - Heart Peace

The Bible says, "A heart at peace gives life to the body" (Proverbs 14:30)

But focusing on imperfections, negative traits, and the things we don't like about ourselves and our lives will steal our peace.

Jesus said, "I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid." (John 14:27). Yet how often do people live their whole lives without peace, and if we do find peace; how often do we let go of it and allow our peace to be replaced with worries, concerns, striving, stress and negative thinking? Plus how often do we allow other people to pull us into their storm, when instead we could pull them into our peace?

.ften we give up our peace because we wish we were someone else or allow the devil to try to replace our peace with negatives and fear? It's a trap that many of us fall into, and it's usually because we allow ourselves to be convinced that we are less than who God says we are and that our lives aren't significant or of consequence. We haven't learned to celebrate who God has made us to be.

We may not be happy with certain aspects of our lives, but we must listen to what God says about the essentials of who we are and what He says about us. He longs for us to accept His love and forgiveness and to know He promises He will perfect what concerns us because He is faithful to complete what He has started in us. He will work with us to bring out the best in us and to fulfill those things we were made for.

I've discovered that when we begin to accept who God says we are, any wrong thinking, negativity, lack of self-worth, and fears fall away, and we are transformed as our thinking is renewed according to what God says about us. As a result, our hearts are filled with peace, giving life to our whole body, which is a great way to live. (Romans 12:2)

Today let your heart be filled with peace as you choose to listen and accept who God says you are and how He is working in your circumstances. He thinks you're amazing, significant, and special, and since He is the one who created you, He'd know.

"The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;

Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands." (Psalm 138:8)

"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians1:6)

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2)

"For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother's womb.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[a]

Marvellous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book, they all were written, The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them." (Psalm 139:13-16)

Prayer: Lord, I ask for your peace to fill my heart today and that I would listen and accept what you say about my life. Please help me let go and give you any thoughts, attitudes and concerns that would try to steal my peace today. In Jesus' name Amen.
