11th June - God Finds What’s Lost (Even a Mouth Guard)

Updated: 6 days ago

It was late Monday night and there we were—two grown adults with torches, crawling around in the grass like we’d lost a diamond ring. My mouth guard (the one that keeps me from grinding my teeth while I sleep) had mysteriously vanished sometime between changing the sheets and making the bed. And it had completely disappeared. We searched the backyard, the laundry, under the bed, in the washing machine... nothing.

Eventually, we gave up and went to bed with me whispering a quiet prayer, “Lord, please help me find it tomorrow.”

The next morning, waking up (with a sore jaw from my grinding) there was still no sign of it. But as I opened my phone I was hit with this wild moment of timing—a post from an author I follow popped up.

Of all things, he was talking about losing something, feeling disappointed, and choosing not to panic but instead to pray and trust that God would help him find it. He found it the next day. That post felt like it was just for me.

So I tried it. No hunting, no stressing or tearing the house apart again. I took a breath and determined to just trust God as I asked again:“Please bring my mouth guard back to me, and thank you that you are taking care of this."

That night, as I was getting ready for bed, I felt this gentle nudge: Check under the bed again. I had already checked there—multiple times. But I looked anyway.

And there it was. Sitting perfectly under the bed like it had never been missing at all.

Now you might call it coincidence. Maybe we somehow missed it during our epic midnight hunt. But honestly? I don’t think so. I know God had something to do with this little moment.

Because He really does care about lost things.

All throughout Scripture, we see Jesus caring about the lost:

He doesn’t just care about the obviously spiritual things—He cares about what matters to you. Because that’s who He is. Whether it’s your peace, a relationship, your hope, your dreams… or even your mouth guard.

And when we bring Him our requests? He listens. He moves. He restores.

Action Steps:

  • Got something you’ve lost—something practical, relational, or deeply personal? Ask God for help and for him to restore.

  • Don’t rush into stress mode. Pause. Pray. Trust.

  • Pay attention to the little nudges. That’s often where the miracle happens..

Think and Say:

THINK: God isn’t just interested in the big things. He cares about my lost things too.

SAY: “Jesus, I trust You to bring back what’s missing—because nothing is lost in Your eyes.”

Bible Verses:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”—Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”—1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”—Luke 19:10 (NKJV)

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You that You care about everything—even the little things that matter to me. Thank You that nothing is ever too small for You to notice. Today I bring You the things that feel lost in my life—whether it’s a relationship, a situation, or even my own sense of peace. I trust You to move, to guide, and to restore. Help me lean into You instead of stressing. I know You’re with me. In Jesus Name Amen.
